Formal Proposal

Title of the magazine you wish to produce:The title of my magazine is Current. The title represents how my magazine will focus on the music charts and will inform the audience of the most update mainstream pop music available Explanation of chosen genreI have chosen mainstream pop because it is a popular genre where most people listen to music linked to the genre. Mainstream pop includes the most up to date music charts and because music charts are publicised on music TV channels and the radio, most people want to hear who/ what is the most popular single or alum at the moment. It was an easy decision for me to choose mainstream pop as my chosen genre because it is the genre that I listen to. So, I have more knowledge on this particular genre and that would allow me to make a great music magazine. Target AudienceMy target audience for my music magazine will be young females around 15-20. I will have to make my music magazine appealing to this age group by choosing my colours, photographs and articles carefully. Because my music magazine will be aimed at women rather than men, I will be able use feminine colours. Also, because my target audience are young adults I will have to make sure the article is not too formal and is on a subject that will interest them. Initial Ideas about Front CoverI want my front cover to be sophisticated and subtle. To make my cover look this way, I will be using the rule of thirds to make sure it looks I think a limited colour palate will be best for my target audience. I also want to use a two shot in a medium shot. However, I may want to use a single striking image in the front cover but it depends which one looks the best when my cover is constructed. Unlike magazines such as Smash Hits, I won’t be using more than one image on the front cover because I don’t want the cover to look crowded. I want my coverlines to be short and simple so the cover does not look too cluttered and the reader gets confused. Initial Ideas about Contents PageI want my contents page to include that week’s music single and album charts so my readers are informed about the most up to date music. I will use the limited colour palette on my contents page as well. The contents page will also include two of four original images. Initial Ideas about Double Page SpreadMy double page spread will consist of an interview with a new artist on the music scene at the moment. This will allow my readers to be aware of the new mainstream pop artists. Like Billboard, I want to use an image which is covering one side of

the double page spread and I also want to use grab quotes to make the reader interested in the article. Initial Ideas about PhotographsI want my cover image to be a single striking image and all of the other images to include the same artist so it seems like the interview with that particular artist is the main article featured in that magazine issue.
