“An Aboriginal woman with the family is the rock. She keeps the family together. They are
getting stronger. We were strong before, but now we are stronger.”

“Our Aboriginal men who have been mislead by the dominant society, our men are starting to
recognize how much of an honor it is to be an Aboriginal woman; that we are to be respected.
It got a little washed out over the years. They were taught that men were supposed to be
stronger, but now they are being taught that women should be held in esteem.”

“Stereotypes stop many native women from being what they could be. They try so hard to be anything but native. Women try to live to a certain standard, not to fall into that negative
stereotype is very hard.”
