Hi everyone,
Welcome to Pony Club for 2019!!
This year is going to be big- you asked for more for your kids and Boy did we deliver!!! There are going to be more new activity try days, more guest instruction, more camp and more fun, fun fun!!
As I’m sure you are aware, we got our grant for the Clubhouse upgrade, disabled toilet and also a grant approved for irrigation for the grounds. This year we will be putting in more grant applications and of course we will keep you posted on these. If anyone would like to help with grant application, please let me know- more than happy to have other perspectives on the applications!!
Charmaine Kesby is taking over as our Publicity officer- looking forward to her work! Charmaine has her own email but for ease we will share the Tamworth Junior Riding email, so you can still send through your photos of the kids for the newsletters and Facebook posts. Charmaine is also going to be the owner of the Facebook page, Website, Instagram and general social media. So please make Charmaine’s role in getting your kids pictures into publication easy by sending them through when you are posting or taking the photos… we love to see your kids happy riding!!
We will have a new format for our rally days this year- please see further in the newsletter for details. I think you’ll love it. A big thank you to Mr. Vaughan and the Instructors in advance- we will have a big year coming our way and we all appreciate you teaching our kids.”
A big thank you to all the volunteers from 2018, you cleaned toilets, did dishes, fixed pipes, scraped out stalls, wrapped gifts, cut out flyers, set up courses, packed up courses, timed, wrote scores, supported the canteen, built stables, fixed pipes, fixed taps, dug holes, fixed more pipes, held horses, dished out morning teas. The list
goes on and on. Basically, without you we do not exist. 😊
We also have our Sign up and Working Bee day this coming Saturday 12th from 9 to get the grounds ready for country music camping… please bring brooms, mops, shovels etc., we need to move a fair bit of poop, get the dorms cleaned out again, clean the amenities and clean the windows inside and out. The clubhouse will also need a good clean too. Many hands make light work, and you can sign your risk warning forms and membership forms too. Active kids’ vouchers are now available to select online just type in active kids or go to RMS website.
Happy Riding,
Laura

Upcoming Events
On the following pages you will see the calendar of events in our
Zone to end July. As you can see Tamworth has 5 Extra events we
are hosting this year.
I need to ask if everyone intending on attending these events can
please help out with organisation of the event as there is a lot of
work that will go into making these days successful. We will need
pencillers, runners, time keepers, first aid officers, judge minders
and canteen assistants.
Our first event the Show Riding, Show Jumping and Sporting
weekend is a great fundraiser for us, and anyone who has ideas for
sponsorship/ donations/ contacts at businesses that can ask for
prizes to donate to our raffle please let me know.
We are also hosting a Mini Camp this year in April we will be
needing support from people to run the camp, there will be no
dorm parents or meals provided as such but we will need troop
leaders and instructors. Again, anyone who can help out please let
me know.
All the events are being put on to give your children more
opportunities at home so any help you can provide is greatly
appreciated.

New Entrance
THANK YOU to Mick Cameron and all the people who were involved in the making of the entrance. I know
there were many of you who gave up time to lay bricks, cart cement, make mud, dig holes, clean bricks… it
exhausts me just thinking about it!!
Mick and his team of merry helpers have finished the brick construction of the entrance, and my oh my what a
job. We will have an official opening for the entrance as soon as the gates are up, and the fence modification
is completed, so if you were a part of the entrance, please keep an eye out on your emails for the date as we
would love to have you all in the photo for the paper.
Arena Extension
Mr. Vaughan, Craig, Scotty, Tim and Ryan have been busy working out the extension of our rear yard to make
it a standard size. This will then accommodate team penning, camp drafting, barrel racing and give our kids
further opportunities. This project will occur in 1 weekend very soon- if you have expertise in steel welding,
fence erection or earthmoving, please contact Tim or Mr. Vaughan if you would like to be involved.

Club house upgrades
We announced in December that we were successful in gaining the grant for the clubhouse upgrade and
installation of a disabled amenities block. We would like to thank Charles Refalo from All Construction
Tamworth who has been instrumental in getting the quotes and designs done for the clubhouse & amenities,
Kevin Anderson for supporting our application and of course Sam Eriksson from Tamworth Council for
approving the grant. We should have word in January from council as to when we can start the project- watch
this space.
Irrigation works
Another grant Mel successfully landed was for an irrigation system for the grounds. We are hoping to have the
funds for this in the first quarter of this year- again will keep you posted. Thanks, Mel, for the investment that
went into this grant- well done!!
Indoor Arena
Still in the wings- am waiting for the grants to open up again- most likely will be after the election. Will keep
you posted!

2019 Rally Days
With our new Senior Instructor Mr Vaughan at the helm, the great work started by Miss
Jan will continue and be built upon.
This year we will be having our Rally days run by our instructors with some guest
instructors, so the kids get more opportunities to learn new things and build on current
skills. The rally days will be all different and focus on different riding skills. You will
receive notification prior to the event to give you a bit of a snapshot of what is to come
for the rally day. There will be a lot of fun to be had and expert coaching/instructing in
many disciplines.
In the afternoons we will be offering the kids the opportunity to fine tune their skills for
competition days, or for those who would like to get into competitions to come and learn
more. We will work on getting those interested in to pairs, teams of four and giving
times, patterns etc for competition days, state championships etc. These afternoon
sessions will be optional however I would encourage you to invest the time for the
children, so they can improve on their riding skills.
If you would like to get involved with organising a rally day or becoming an instructor,
please contact either Mr Vaughan or myself and we can discuss your ideas.
I would like to thank our Instructors who give up their time freely to teach our kids-
please make sure that you remind your children to be respectful, courteous and always
listen - their knowledge is invaluable.

February Rally Day
As we approach the February Rally day, Miss Alison will be running the day with a
focus on skills and techniques to compliment our February Show riding, Show
jumping and Sporting Weekend on the 16th Feb. This is a great opportunity for the kids
to do some jumping practice, flat work and sporting practice so that in a fortnight’s
time they are ready and have confidence on what they will be doing at the event.
Ben Collett and his team will be taking the kids through sporting events and providing
the current times/ patterns for you to take home for practice.
Miss Al and her team will work on Show jumping. As there are quite a few children
with new horses, please ensure you bring with you your child’s jump card for the
CURRENT horse, if you do not have one, I will have cards available for $3 each. Miss
Alison can assess your child and make sure that they are jumping at the correct level
and make any adjustments as required.
We will also have instructors there to work on flat riding with you and getting the
basics of this correct.
If you are going to attend the Show jumping day you MUST have a current jump card
signed off BEFORE the event- this rally day will be your only opportunity to get those
cards.
We will start the day at 8:00a.m to try to beat the heat, and finish at lunchtime, with
the optional session after lunch for those who are interested in competition training.

Housekeeping
In the last few months of 2018 there were a few things brought to the attention of the
Executive committee that have been discussed and actions recorded as below:
Golf Buggy/ Cart
The golf buggy is wearing out and is also a very large and heavy piece of machinery. If it was to
fall over it could cause very serious damage to the inhabitants. As of today, under no
circumstance are children allowed to drive the buggy for any reason. Only people aged 18 and
over will be given permission to drive the buggy, and it is to be available for the instructors
and committee members to take around equipment, drinks etc.
Grounds use outside of Rally Days
The grounds are privately owned and as such we pay insurance to have horses on the grounds.
We hire out the grounds and amenities to people to make money for the club and as such
there is a calendar for bookings which the Secretary and Treasurer have access to. The safety
of people on the grounds is critical and as such only those booked in are granted permission
for use outside of rally days. As you do not know the booking schedule, please contact me if
you wish to use the grounds and we can make a booking.
Working with Children Check
PCA NSW brought in last year the regulatory requirement to hold a current WWC Check to be
able to stay on the grounds overnight. This is now being enforced. If you do not hold a
current Working with children check, please arrange to get one or you will not be permitted
to stay on the grounds at any Pony Club grounds as we now are required to send a list of
WWC check number to Zone and they will distribute to other clubs if you are registered to
stay there.
Helmets
Very simple- No helmet, no riding- NO EXCEPTIONS even for Adults. Under no circumstances
at a pony club event/ trail ride/ riding at the grounds can you ride without a helmet.
