TALENT SPONSORSHIP PACKET:

Talent, in all of its varieties and forms, are often sponsored by businesses or anyone wanting a little extra publicity. It is also a way friends and family show their support. From celebri-ties to athletes to race cars, sponsorship is big business.

Through our Talent Sponsorship program, you have the opportunity to seek and find sponsors to help support you during your Global Stars Network venture. While you won’t wear hats with your sponsor’s logo, and there aren’t any fancy sports cars emblazoned with colorful ads, there is a Global Stars Network program book in which your sponsors can show their support for you.

Q: How do participants obtain a sponsor? Is there a limit to the number of sponsors

each individual can have or who they can solicit? A: You (and anyone who volunteers to help you) will approach businesses, individuals,

friends, and family members. To aid you in explaining the Global Stars Network convention and your part in it, we’ve prepared this Talent Sponsorship Packet. Make copies of the attached pages to hand out or mail to whoever’s sponsorship you seek. The more sponsors you obtain, the more you’ll offset your costs for the program. Approach everyone!

neighbors neighborhood businesses your Chamber of Commerce your subdivision association your bank family & friends businesses you frequent (coffee shops, grocery stores, etc.) endless ideas & possibilities . . .

Also, if you ask three of your closest friends / relatives to solicit, on your behalf, three of their con-tacts, you potentially have twelve (12) sponsors by doing nothing more than contacting your origi-nal three friends / relatives! One participant had the idea to have a “Sponsorship Party,” and invite everyone on their holiday card list. It’s a great excuse for a theme party, and a fantastic way to ap-proach a lot of people at one time! Q: How are my costs offset? A: Sponsors buy ads for the Global Stars Network program book. 80% of the cost of each ad your sponsors purchase goes directly toward your program costs. The remaining 20% pays for printing and production costs. It is possible to collect enough funds to not only pay for your workshop pack-age (including photos), but to cover some, if not all, of your cabin fees, taxes, and gratuities.

Q: How much do ads cost? What if I collect more than I need? Who gets the surplus funds A: The pricing and details are attached. Please note that sponsors can contribute any amount that they choose – even $25.00. It buys them a 1 line ad, or, if you accumulate enough small con-tributions to total $200 or more, you can combine all of those sponsors into an ad with your picture. Examples are attached. All funds collected less the cost of the ad goes toward off setting your cost to convention. Should there be a surplus, these funds go directly to you to help offset your cost on the actual cruise. Q: What benefit is there for the sponsor? Why should someone spend their money on this if they aren’t a business? A: First, businesses always like tax deductions. The cost of each ad is fully tax deductible as ad-vertising. Second, this is a direct way for your contacts to support you both financially, emotionally, as well as helping you increase your exposure. The Global Stars Network program book is distrib-uted to all of the participants, guests, agents, and other industry professionals, some of whom live in your immediate area. In general, the sponsorship program is more about supporting you than it is about commercial exposure for your sponsor(s). Q: How does someone know that a particular sponsor is my sponsor? A: For sponsors who contribute $200 or more, your photo is incorporated into their ads. The more times your photo is printed in the Global Stars Network program book, the more exposure you have with the agents. They do read the program book! Imagine an agent seeing your picture on page after page within the program book; not only will he/she remember your face, but it shows that you are dedicated, determined, and supported by a large network of friends, family, and busi-nesses. For variety, you may choose different photographs of yourself for different ads. Q: Who prepares the ads, and to whom do my sponsors make their checks payable? A: Your sponsors can prepare their own ads, if they choose. Often, businesses simply provide their business card as their advertisement. You, too, can prepare ads for your sponsors. All ads submitted to Global Stars Network for publication in the GSN program book must be in digital for-mat, and we prefer jpg or tiff. If you or your sponsor(s) cannot use jpg or tiff formatting, we may be able to convert your ad for you. (If we use a conversion program, it is possible that some of the original formatting of your sponsor’s ad will be disrupted.) Finally, for those of you who submit only the information and not the ad, we will prepare something for you and your sponsor. Checks need to be made payable to you Mother Agency and digital ads need to be emailed to Mark Anthony Jones Executive Producer, at [email protected]. Q: Do I have to have a sponsor to participate in the convention? A: Absolutely not. We provide the Talent Sponsorship program as a means to provide you with an

opportunity to reduce your program and travel expenses, as well as a way for us to offset some of our printing costs. And don’t forget about that added benefit of agent exposure, each time they see your photograph in the printed program book!

TIPS FOR FINDING SPONSORS

The first people you want to solicit for sponsorship are your family and friends. Sit down, make a list of everyone you know, and then approach each person individually. For those people who are out of driving distance, make a phone call and provide information via mail. Having a theme party where you invite everyone on your list is also a great idea. It allows you to make one presentation to everyone at the same time, and then provide each friend and family member with his or her own Sponsorship Packet. A “Dear Friends and Family” solicitation letter is enclosed for your use. Use it as the cover letter when you send your friends and family the Sponsorship Program Packet of information. Finding corporate sponsors is not as easy. But with determination and hard work, you can do it! Many people over the years have paid for the entry fees, their marketing tools and travel expenses with sponsorships. Make sure you understand and follow the tips provided below before you at-tempt to solicit corporate sponsorship: 1. BRAINSTORMING YOUR AUDIENCE: • You first want to know who you are going to solicit. What is your target audience? While it is

okay to approach any corporation in general, it is better to approach a corporation that has a re-lated interest to the entertainment industry. For example, a toothpaste company or any type of company that produces beauty products are “related” in that they know that they’ll be reaching people who care deeply about their appearance. Businesses want to reach their target audience, so you want to reach target businesses!

• Other ideas: companies that sell costumes; music supplies; theatrical supplies; film and camer-

as; dance, voice, or acting lessons; or theatres that rent space for independent performances. • Brainstorm a list of your own, and then use the internet to find corporations that supply products

or services on your list. You’ll be able to find the corporate name, address, phone numbers, and often the name of an ideal contact within the corporation, all on the internet. You might also want to contact local PR and Advertising firms to see if any of their clients might be interested.

2. KNOW YOUR MATERIAL: • You are provided with a copy of the Sponsorship Program Packet which is full of information.

Not only do you need to give a copy of the packet, with the appropriate cover letter, to each per-son or corporation you are soliciting, but you need to know and understand the information pro-vided in the packet. When you meet with potential sponsors, they will undoubtedly have ques-tions. You want to be prepared as possible to answer those questions. Many busy corporate executives will not take the time to read all of the packet materials; many may just want to sign on the dotted line and hand you a check -- IF you’ve presented the information thoroughly and professionally. Memorize the choices businesses have for publicity opportunities (called “impressions”), the pricing, and what is required of them. Everything you need to know is in the packet, but if you still have questions, call your Mother Agent.

• If you would like to personalize the Sponsorship solicitation letter -- which we recommend that you do -- please download a PDF version of it from the GSN website. Or, in the alternative, re-quest from your Mother Agent the MS Word formatted version of the letter, via email. You can then type in your letterhead, the contact’s name and address, your name at the signature line, and any other personalized information that would be helpful. We do not recommend that you make any changes to the substantive text of the letter.

3. PHONE, PHONE, PHONE! • It’s not wise to blindly mail out a copy of the Sponsorship Program Packet without contacting a

company, speaking to a representative, and gauging the company’s interest. Also, check your attitude: It is best to approach potential sponsors with an “I have an opportunity for you to make a difference” attitude rather than an attitude that screams, “I need money!”

One-line ads will be printed, without photographs, for contributions that do not combine to equal the price of a ¼ page ad, or when otherwise specified by the sponsor (who may specifically want a one-line ad).
