Huat Ah!Chinese New Year Dinner 2012

“Huat ah! GPA 5.0! ” these were the cheers

heard as fiVers zealously tossed the Yusheng

in the air. This year, Hall 5’s Chinese New Year

celebration treated fiVers to a sumptuous

steamboat dinner. The event was emceed

by roomie-duo Rian and Guangjun, who

successful lifted the spirits of the audience

with their excellent chemistry. Undoubtedly,

the key highlight of the event would be that

bidding game, where fiVers walked over with

many attractive prizes. The celebration was

certainly a blast and a great reunion for all

residents. May all fiVers enjoy LONG-evity in

this dragon year!

Shine!Stella Eccellente 2012 & Cultural Night I

It was 15 minutes before Stella Eccellente 2012.

Yet, hoardes of fiVers were already gathered in

the vicinity of LKC Theatre, eagerly anticipating

its commencement and the crowning of the

new champion.

All seemed the same as one year ago, yet

different. This time round, hopes were high

– hopes of regaining the name of being the

premier cultural hall. Well-acclaimed vocalist

Hensley was selected to represent the hall;

qualifying hand-in-hand with Evelyn at the

biannual Cultural Night weeks ago.

The audiences from the other 3 halls were

incomparable to the fervent FiVers. Banners

inscribed with Hensley’s and Evelyn’s name

were held high up proudly. Colorful lightsticks

were distributed, adding further glow and

glaze to the singing competition.

The stage was set, as contestants passionately

displayed their vocal capabilities, articulating

each syllabus and tone to near perfection,

as all sought for that one positive comment

from the judges. Admist the applause and

encouragement of the audience, Hensley

captured the judges’ hearts with a terrific

rendition of Gary Cao’s 寂寞先生.

A wide smile at the end of the contest; a simple

thank you to his supporters – for someone who

adores music, that’s all it matters. Winning is

not everything, but bringing joy to his friends

and fellow music lovers through a song, that

is everything.
