Amazigh Cultural Association in America (ACAA)

The Amazigh Cultural Association in America ACAA is a non-profit organization working for

the promotion of the Amazigh heritage and the

defense of the human rights of the Amazigh.

ACAA is registered in the state of New Jersey

but has members in the continental US. ACAA is

at the forefront of the promotion of the Amazigh

culture through its sponsorship of young au-

thors, scientific research and cultural activities.

ACAA publishes The Amazigh Voice newsletter

and maintains a website at www.tamazgha.org.

Akli Kebaili was born in 1953 in the village of Tiwal in Kabylia. He has lived in Germany since 1979. Currently he works for the City of Frankfurt am Main. Akli has a doctoral degree in

What is Turart Amekti?

Turart Amekti is a memory game played with a set of cards. Each card has a photograph, a let-ter of the Amazigh alphabet and a caption. The caption is simply the name of the subject of the photograph. The letter is a character of the al-phabet contained in the name of the subject. Each card has a different character of the al-phabet and thus there are 37 cards, because the Amazigh alphabet contains 37 characters.

This game was designed by Akli Kebaili a Kabyl of Frank-furt, Germany. Akli first made the game to play with his son and teach him the Amazigh alphabet in the process. But they both had fun with it and the friends he in-
