News from the Churches:

Hurricane Creek: Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. God continues to show His faithfulness and His heart at Hurricane Creek Baptist Church. God is not willing that any man should perish and we have been blessed with two professions of faith and one baptism since the first of the year. We also have 4 baptisms lined up as soon as Bro. Robert thinks that he can stand the cold waters of Hurricane Creek again. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. We have also had a family of four join our church so we say welcome to the Mixon family. In February we were privileged to see a wonderful couple, Phillip Casterline and Jennifer Barnes unite in holy matrimony. I know that God is going to bless their marriage as on their wedding announcements they had a quote from Joshua 24:15, “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” When you start a marriage out on a foundation such as this God will bless you. Pray for this wonderful, young couple. Our youth group has been quite busy with both recreation and service projects. The youth had a lock in and had a great time of games, videos, fun and most importantly, Bible study. Thanks to all who helped with this endeavor. Our youth are also working on collecting money for the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home. Look for them as they will be out and about in your communities in the month of April. The youth also have helped in preparing for a much anticipated event which will be a first at Hurricane Creek Baptist Church. The youth have also been active in setting up our fellowship hall for a Seder Meal which will be conducted on April 5 at 7pm. We are truly excited about learning more about the Passover and the Lord’s Supper during this evening of fellowship and communion. Hurricane Creek has also undertaken a new ministry at the Baptist Collegiate Ministry (BCM) on the Austin Peay State University campus. Once a month the BCM offers a “noon day meal” for anyone on the campus and surrounding businesses. The money raised from the meal goes to support the mission trips that the students take throughout the year. The APSU students travel across the state as well as across our nation and around the world. In supplying a noon day meal we help raise money for missions. Hurricane Creek supplied the meal, deserts and drinks and served them to almost 80 students in March. A great big thank you and job well done goes out to all of our members that were involved in this wonderful ministry. We want to challenge the other churches in our association to get involved in this ministry by contacting Stacy Murphree of the BCM at 931-647-6940. If you have any questions about what we do as a church at the BCM, about the meals or anything else you may contact Jeannette Spurgeon at 931-387-4840. Finally, please be in prayer for one of our church families. The Brandon family has had some very serious illnesses for the past couple of years and these conditions have really reared their ugly heads in the past few months. Pray specifically for Shyanna as this young lady, who is the most gracious person I think that I have ever met, faces some high mountains in her life. She knows better than most of us that the God of the mountain is the God of the valley. Pray for the Brandon family. In this season of celebration as we look not only to the cross but more importantly to the empty tomb, remember what God told the children of Israel about the 10th and final plague that He would use to free them from the bondage of Egypt. God said in Exodus 12:13 says, “And when I see the blood, I will pass over you.” Remember, it is all about the blood of Jesus. Without the shedding of blood there would be no remission of sin. Thank you Lord Jesus for your blood that covers our sin. God bless our sister churches and their pastors as we celebrate a risen Savior.
