GETTING STARTEDNetwork and System RequirementsBefore cont inuing with the setup of your Myzone, p lease conf i rm that you comply with

the minimum system requirements below.

• Act ivated SIM card

• Computer or smart phone with Windows, Nokia Symbian, Android , Macintosh or L inux-

based operat ing systems with TCP/ IP protocol insta l led and working IEEE 802.11g or

IEEE 802.11b compl iant wire less adapter

• Web browser such as Internet Explorer, Safar i , Mozi l la F i refox , Opera , Google Chrome,

Netscape Navigator etc .

3G Network LockYour MyZone i s locked to the Et i sa lat 3G Network . I f you insert a S IM from a different

3G provider, you wi l l need to obtain the Network Unlock Code from Et isa lat Technical

Support . Your MyZone wi l l prompt you to enter the unlock code as shown in the

screenshot below. You can then c l ick Save and cont inue to conf igure the MyZone as per

the steps in this guide .

Placement of your MyZoneJust l ike a mobi le phone, the MyZone’s locat ion wi l l affect i t s s ignal strength from the

mobi le base stat ion (ce l l tower) . The data speed achievable from the MyZone i s re lat ive to

this s ignal strength, which i s affected by many environmental factors . When choos ing a

locat ion to p lace your MyZone, p lease keep in mind that the MyZone wi l l need adequate

s ignal strength in order to provide Internet connect iv i ty.

S imi lar ly, the wire less connect ion between your Myzone and your Wi-F i devices wi l l be

stronger the c loser your connected devices are to your MyZone. Your wire less connect ion

and performance wi l l degrade as the d istance between your MyZone and connected

devices increases . This may or may not be d i rect ly not iceable , and i s great ly affected by

the indiv idual setup environment .

I f you have concerns about your network ’s performance that might be re lated to range

or obstruct ion factors , t ry moving the computer (or Wi-F i device) to a pos i t ion between

3 to 5 metres f rom your MyZone in order to see i f d istance i s the problem. I f d i ff icult ies

pers i st even at c lose range, p lease contact Et i sa lat Technical Support .

Note: Whi le some of the i tems l i s ted below can affect network performance , they wi l l not

prohibit your wire less network from funct ioning; i f you are concerned that your network

i s not operat ing at i t s maximum effect iveness , th is checkl i s t may help .

Note: The MyZone must be kept at least 20cm away from human body.

(This i s a regulatory requirement and appl ies to a l l 3G / Wi-F i capable devices meet ing

standard regulatory compl iance)

Place your MyZone as c lose as poss ib le to the centre of your wire less network devices . To

achieve the best wire less network coverage for your “wire less c l ients” ( i .e . computers with

bui l t- in or USB wire less adapters , laptops with bui l t- in wire less , wire less PDA / iPhone,

wire less enabled gaming consoles etc) :

• Ensure that your MyZone i s pos i t ioned vert ica l ly.

• In mult i-storey homes , p lace your MyZone on a f loor that i s as c lose to the centre of

the home as poss ib le . This may mean plac ing your MyZone on an upper f loor.

• Try not to p lace your MyZone near a cordless te lephone that operates at the same

radio frequency as the MyZone (2 .4GHz) .

Avoid obstacles and interferencesAvoid p lac ing your MyZone near devices that may emit radio “noise , ” such as microwave

ovens . Also avoid b locking your s ignal with dense objects that can inhibit wire less

communicat ion. These can inc lude:

• Refr igerators

• Washers and/or dryers

• Metal cabinets

• Large aquar iums

• Metal l ic-based, UV-t inted windows

I f your wire less s ignal seems weak in some spots , make

sure that objects such as these are not b locking the

s ignal ’s path (between your devices and your MyZone) .

Cordless PhonesI f the performance of your wire less network i s impaired

after cons ider ing the above i ssues , and you have a cordless

phone:

• Try moving cordless phones away from your MyZone

and your wire less-enabled computers .

• Unplug and remove the battery from any cordless

phone that operates on the 2 .4GHz band (check

manufacturer ’s information) . I f th is f ixes the problem,

your phone may be interfer ing with the Wi-F i of your

MyZone.

• I f your phone supports channel se lect ion , change the

channel on the phone to the farthest channel f rom

your wire less network . For example , change the phone

to channel 1 and set your MyZone to channel 11 . See

your phones user manual for deta i led instruct ions .

• I f necessary, cons ider switching to a 900MHz or 5GHz

cordless phone.

Choose the “Quietest” Channel for your Wireless

NetworkIn locat ions where homes or off ices are c lose together,

such as apartment bui ld ings or off ice complexes , there

may be wire less networks nearby that can conf l ict with

your wire less network .

Use the s i te survey capabi l i t ies found in the wire less

ut i l i ty of your wire less adapter to locate any other

wire less networks that are avai lable ( see your wire less

adapter ’s user manual ) , and switch your MyZone and

computers to a channel as far away from other networks as

poss ib le .

Note: Most Wi-F i routers set their Wire less G networks to channel 6 . Changing

the channel to something other than 6 may help improve your

wire less network performance .

• Exper iment with more than one of the avai lable

channels , in order to f ind the c learest connect ion and

avoid interference from neighbour ing cordless phones

or other wire less devices .

LED Indicators, Inputs and OutputsThe LED indicator d isp lay v is ib le on the front of the

MyZone provides with status information. See below for an

explanat ion of both the indicat ion l ights .
