Guruji Śrī Amṛtānanda had shared Śrī Vidyāraṇya Sampuṭita Śrī Sūktaṁ in 2015 for the benefit of devotees. This Śrī Sūktaṁ itself is very old and contains several powerful mantras which are recited in combination with potent stanzas from the Ṛg Veda and the Mārkaṇḍeya Purāṇa. The presentation herein does not construe dikśa of any kind into these mantras. Readers are therefore advised to use this Sampūṭi only for parāyaṇa (chanting) purposes. The mantras are not to be chanted independently.

––––––––––––––– INTRODUCTION ––––––––––––––– Vidyāraṇya is variously known as a kingmaker, patron saint and high priest to Harihara I and Bukka Raya I, the founders of the Vijayanagara Empire. He was the 12th Jagadguru of the Śringeri Śarada Pītham from 1380-1386. Vidyāraṇya was a great Śrī Vidyā upāsaka and used this saṁpuṭi mantra to generate wealth for the Empire. It is a potent combination of Durgā, Mahālakṣmī, and Lalitā, and is recited for both material and spiritual benefits. Śrī Mahālakṣmī bestows both material wealth, fame and the incomparable wealth of Spiritual Knowledge. Furthermore, in the form of Durgā, She eliminates all evil.

For the devotees wishing to undertake this sadhana, it’s advisable to recite this Sūktaṃ three times a day (morning, noon and evening) without fail for a minimum of 44 days.

The following mantras are used in Vidyāraṇya’s Saṁpuṭita Śrī Sūkta.

1. Kamalātmikā mantraḥ:

oṁ śrīṁ hrīṁ śrīṁ kamale kamalālaye prasīda prasīda śrīṁ hrīṁ śrīṁ oṁ mahālakṣmyai namaḥ

2. Durgā saptaślokī verse:

Invoke the Devi who is the embodiment of Śrī, so that She becomes pleased with me.

Who abides in the lotus and has the colour of the lotus; (O Agni) invoke that Lakṣmī here, who is the embodiment of Śrī.








oṁ vadavada candrāṁ prabhāsāṁ yaśasā jvalantīṁ … aiṁ ka e ī la hrīṁ śriyaṁ loke deva-juṣṭāmudārām … klīṁ ha sa ka ha la hrīṁ tāṁ padminīm-īṁ śaraṇamahaṁ prapadye … sauḥ sa ka la hrīṁ alakṣmīrme naśyatāṁ tvāṁ vṛṇe vadavada oṁ (Invoke for me that Lakṣmī) who is the embodiment of Śrī and whose glory shines like the splendor of the moon in all the worlds; who is noble and who is worshipped by the devas. I take refuge at Her feet, who abides in the lotus; by Her grace, may my misfortunes perish.








oṁ vāgvādinī ādityavarṇe tapaso’dhijāto … aiṁ ka e ī la hrīṁ vanaspatistava vṛkṣo’tha bilvaḥ … klīṁ ha sa ka ha la hrīṁ tasya phalāni tapasā-nudantu … sauḥ sa ka la hrīṁ māyāntarāyāśca bāhyā alakṣmīḥ vāgvādinī oṁ (O Agni, invoke for me that Lakṣmī) who is of the colour of the sun and born of tapas; the tapas which is like a huge sacred bilva tree. Let the fruit of that tree of tapas drive away the delusion and ignorance within and the Alakṣmī (in the form of evil, distress and poverty) outside.







O Mother Durgā! When remembered in distress, You remove fear from every creature. Remembered by the untroubled, You confer even greater serenity of mind.

oṁ aiṁ upaitu māṁ devasakhaḥ … aiṁ ka e ī la hrīṁ kīrtiśca maṇinā saha … klīṁ ha sa ka ha la hrīṁ prādurbhūto’smi rāṣṭre’smin … sauḥ sa ka la hrīṁ kīrtimṛddhiṁ dadātu me aiṁ oṁ (O Agni, invoke for me that Lakṣmī) by whose presence will come near me the companions of the devas along with glory (inner prosperity) and various jewels (outer prosperity), and I will be reborn in the realm of Śrī which will grant me inner glory and outer prosperity.








oṁ sauḥ kṣutpipāsāmalāṁ jyeṣṭhām … aiṁ ka e ī la hrīṁ alakṣmīṁ nāśayāmyaham … klīṁ ha sa ka ha la hrīṁ abhūtim-asamṛddhiṁ ca … sauḥ sa ka la hrīṁ sarvāṁ nirṇuda me gṛhāt sauḥ oṁ (O Agni, invoke for me that Lakṣmī) whose presence will destroy hunger, thirst and impurity associated with her elder sister Alakṣmī, and drive away the wretchedness and ill-fortune from my house.








oṁ haṁsaḥ gandha-dvārāṁ durādharṣāṁ … aiṁ ka e ī la hrīṁ nityapuṣṭāṁ karīṣiṇīm … klīṁ ha sa ka ha la hrīṁ īśvarīgm sarva-bhūtānāṁ … sauḥ sa ka la hrīṁ tāmihopahvaye śriyam haṁsaḥ oṁ (O Agni, invoke for me that Lakṣmī) who is the source of all fragrances, who is difficult to approach, who is always filled with abundance and leaves a residue of abundance wherever She reveals Herself. Who is the ruling power in all beings; (O Agni) please invoke her here, who is the embodiment of Śrī.

oṁ āṁ manasaḥ kāma-mākūtiṁ … aiṁ ka e ī la hrīṁ vācaḥ satya-maśīmahi … klīṁ ha sa ka ha la hrīṁ paśūnāṁ rūpa-mannasya … sauḥ sa ka la hrīṁ mayi śrīḥ śrayatāṁ yaśaḥ āṁ oṁ (O Agni, invoke for me that Lakṣmī) for whom my heart truly yearns and to whom my speech truly tries to reach, by whose presence will come cattle, beauty and food in my life as (external) prosperity and who will reside (i.e. reveal) in me as (inner) glory of Śrī.








oṁ hrīṁ kardamena prajā bhūtā … aiṁ ka e ī la hrīṁ mayi sambhava kardama … klīṁ ha sa ka ha la hrīṁ śriyaṁ vāsaya me kule … sauḥ sa ka la hrīṁ mātaraṁ padma-mālinīm hrīṁ oṁ As Kardama (referring to earth represented by mud) acts as the substratum for the existence of mankind, similarly O Kardama (now referring to sage Kardama, the son of Devi Lakṣmī) you stay with me, and be the cause to bring your Mother to dwell in my family; your Mother who is the embodiment of Śrī and encircled by lotuses.








oṁ kroṁ āpaḥ sṛjantu snigdhāni … aiṁ ka e ī la hrīṁ ciklīta vasa me gṛhe … klīṁ ha sa ka ha la hrīṁ ni ca devīṁ mātaraṁ … sauḥ sa ka la hrīṁ śriyaṁ vāsaya me kule kroṁ oṁ As Ciklīta (referring to moisture represented by water ) creates loveliness in all things by its presence, similarly, O Ciklīta (now referring to Ciklīta, the son of Devi Lakṣmī) you stay with me, and by your presence bring your Mother, the Devi who is the embodiment of Śrī (and essence of all beauty) to dwell in my family.








oṁ klīṁ ārdrāṁ puṣkariṇīṁ puṣṭiṁ … aiṁ ka e ī la hrīṁ piṅgalāṁ padma-mālinīm … klīṁ ha sa ka ha la hrīṁ candrāṁ hiraṇmayīṁ lakṣmīṁ … sauḥ sa ka la hrīṁ jātavedo ma āvaha klīṁ oṁ (O Agni, invoke for me that Lakṣmī) who is like the moisture of a lotus pond, which nourishes a soul (with her soothing loveliness); and who is encircled by light yellow lotuses, who is like a moon with a golden aura.
