FEE WAIVER POLICYIt is the policy of the parks and recreation department that no child be denied access to basic recreation services because of inability to pay. The department will consider fee waiver requests based on a family’s present financial status.Parents/Guardians must complete the recreation scholarship request forms, provide the required support documentation, and pay the reduced registration fee (if approved) August 7-9 from 4 - 5:30 pm at the Honey Bowen Building. No exceptions.Fee waiver requests will be taken for youth, ages 0 –17 years of age, for all recreation services.

AGE CONTROL DATE POLICY

There are NO EXCEPTIONS to the Age Control Dates

for ANY sport. No child will be allowed to play out of

his or her age category.

OUT OF COUNTY POLICYAll the participants living outside of Bulloch County registering for programs will be required to pay an additional $10.00 out-of-county fee for each activity, each season or month.

REFUND POLICYRefunds will not be issued for withdrawal from a program that meets the minimum enrollment requirements set by the depart-ment, except in the following cases: Cancellation by the regis-trant prior to one week before the program starts will result in a full refund. Cancellation by registrant one week or less prior to the program starting date will result in a full refund minus a $3.00 service charge. NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN AFTER A PROGRAM HAS STARTED.

Flag FootballThe SBCPRD Flag Football Program provides youth the opportunity to learn the basic rules and fundamentals of the game in a noncompetitive environment. All flag football players receive a team jersey and participate in practices and games.

Tackle Football--Child must be present at registration for weighing and fitting of equipment.

Three tackle football leagues are offered by SBCPRD. The Tiny Mite Tackle League introduces players to the basic level of fundamentals and techniques and builds on skills learned in the Flag league. There are no standings kept in this league. The Minor Tackle League builds on the fundamentals learned in the tiny mite tackle league by introducing the higher skills of tackle football. Volunteer coaches focus on teaching techniques that a player will use in this league and in the future. The Midget Tackle League is for 11 and 12 year olds and introduces players to the finer points of football. Standings are kept and all teams advance to end of the season bowl games in both the Minor and Midget Tackle Leagues.

CheerleadingRecreation cheerleading is a wonderful recreation program for new and experienced cheerleaders, ages 4-12 years old. Learn cooperation, self confidence, respect, great friendships and all of the important skills of cheerleading. We do our best to place cheerleaders with their sibling football players (tackle leagues), but cannot always do so. We cannot guarantee sibling placement after August 9.

SoccerThe SBCPRD Recreational Soccer League exists to provide youth the opportunity to participate in a fun, organized and safe environment. Emphasis is placed on the enjoyment of playing soccer while learning basic skills of the game. Fall soccer season runs August through October. All leagues are co-ed and meet two to three times per week.

Junior Golf Schools Local PGA Professionals will teach the proper etiquette and FUNdamentals of the game using SNAG, KwikGolf, and US Kids Equipment. Golf clubs are available for use. The sessions will be held at the Georgia Southern Uni-versity Golf Course and are open to beginners or experienced young golfers between the ages of 5-17 years old. Participants should wear golf or athletic shoes when attending. Each child is required to sign a waiver from the GSU golf course prior to participating.

Around the Horn Competitive Baseball/Softball

These teams are designed to offer youth in the Bulloch County and surrounding area the opportunity for more competitive play in addition to regular league play in the Spring. Tryout dates are listed below--there is no tryout fee.

The fee for participating on an Around the Horn Team will be $350 for machine pitch leagues and $430 for all other leagues. The fee is non-refundable except in extenuating circumstances determined by the Superintendent of Athletics. 7OUTDOOR RECREATION & SPECIAL EVENTS

Outdoor Recreation Adventures ProgramA new program for kids ages 8 - 17, Outdoor Rec Adventures will teach the basics in four areas: Freshwater Fishing, Archery, Kayaking/Boating, and Hiking/Wilderness Interpretation. An Informational Meeting will be held Tuesday, August 27at 6 pm at the Honey Bowen Building on Fair Road to hear more about the program. Program will meet Mondays & Thursdays from 5-7 pm from September 12 - October 3. Cost is $70 per person. Space is limited.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Free Pickleball Clinic—Tuesday, August 13, 6-7 pmSBCPRD is hosting a FREE CLINIC for those ages 7 through Adults who would like to learn the basics of Pickleball. The clinic will be held Tuesday, August 13 from 6-7 pm at the Mill Creek Tennis Complex inside Mill Creek Regional Park.

Fall Opening Day—Saturday, September 14Join us for the Fall Opening Day to celebrate the official opening of fall sports at Mill Creek Regional Park. This event will include team introduction prior to their first game. Sponsored by DEA Lawn Enforcement, Rotary Club of Statesboro, and Statesboro Golf Carts.

Soccer Skills Challenge—Saturday, September 28, 9:30-11:30 amThe Soccer Skills Challenge will be held on Saturday, September 28 at Mill Creek Park. The contest is free and open to boys and girls ages 6-13 (age as of Sept 1, 2019). Sign up at the event. Sponsored by Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market.

Cheerleading Competition—Monday, October 28On Monday, October 18 at 7 pm (cheerleaders need to be there at 6 pm) at States-boro High School Gym, the Minor and Midget League Cheerleaders will show off their moves from the football season in one final competition. All cheerleaders will receive participation awards and we will have first and second place winners in the minor and midget divisions for best performance at the competition. Teams will be judged on showmanship, cheer technique, appearance, and overall impression. Each team will be required to perform a cheer and a dance. **All Tiny Mite League cheerleaders will perform a special cheer exhibition during the competition.

Trick or Treat at Mill Creek—October 25: 5 - 8 pmDo you want a safe and fun way to spend Halloween? We have the perfect event for all kids and parents! Mill Creek Park is the place for lots of candy and entertainment! Children can participate in many activities and trick or treat at numerous candy stops. Sponsored by A T & T Wireless, Coca-Cola, Wing Maxx, Kiwanis Club of Statesboro, and Statesboro Golf Carts.

“Our Time”After school care until 6 p.m., “Our Time” offers a structured, supervised after school

program for students in the Bulloch County School System, Pre-K through 5th grade.

Registration Fee: $25 (one time per school year)

R.E.C.E.SAfter school care until 4 p.m., Recreation Education Care Every School Day (RECES) is available Monday through Friday beginning at 2:30 p.m.

SpecialistsSBCPRD strives to provide quality individ-ualized care for children with disabilities based on the specific needs of the child. The “Specialists” program is an inclusive pro-gram, which meets in conjunction with the “Our Time” and R.E.C.E.S. programs. The “Specialists” program provides recreational and enrichment activities which allow chil-dren with disabilities to participate as they can, making adaptations and modifications to accommodate special needs. Fees for this program are the same as “Our Time” and R.E.C.E.S.

Camp Adventure DaysThe Statesboro Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Department offers full day activities (7:50 a.m. - 6 p.m.) for children who are out of school for breaks and in-service days. This camp is held at the former Julia P Bryant El-ementary School on Stockyard Road in Statesboro. The upcoming full days include the following dates:

Sharks Swim Program For ages 6 – 18.Learn more about the sport of swimming in a fun, friendly competitive environment! Swim-mers will gain experience through local swim meets in the Fall/Winter and GRPA meets during the Summer! The swimmers will improve times and techniques from an experienced coach year-round! 13HORSEBACK RIDING PROGRAMS & PARTIES

This program is designed for youth and adults who have been diagnosed with an emotional, physical, or cognitive disability. Experience outdoor fun and recreation while using the horse as a tool to im-prove posture, self-esteem, balance, coordination and more! Classes are held at Fletcher Memorial

Park on Lakeview Road in 4-week sessions.Session one: September 3-24

Session two: October 1-22 Tuesdays, 4:30-7 p.m.

Fee: $80/Bulloch County resident; $90/Out of County resident

Horseback Riding LessonsLessons are for beginner to intermediate levels. Rider must be at least 5 years old as of September 1, 2019. Held at Fletcher Park on Lakeview Road. Interested in horseback riding? Whether you want to ride English or Western get started with the basics of good riding skills. You can gain so much from riding lessons such as; patience, compassion for another being, responsibility, sportsmanship, and pure enjoyment with the outdoors. Make sure to wear something comfortable, preferably pants or jeans and closed toe shoes (boots or tennis shoes). August 19-September 27 Mon - Fri $150 for a 6 week session October 7-November 15 Mon - Fri $150 for a 6 week session
