Dear parents,

First of all, I want to tell you how excited we are to have your son/daughter with us in the High School Ministry here at Seacoast! I’m looking forward to seeing them grow to maturity and complete-ness in Christ and becoming more fully a part of His Church! I’m passionate about our students realizing who they are in Christ and seeing them begin to live out the calling He’s placed on their lives. Everything we do here is aimed at accomplishing Seacoasts vision of “Bringing life to people and glory to God.” We can’t, and don’t intend to, do this without you. Relationships are a key part of youth ministry. Our relationship with your son and/or daughter and our relationship with YOU are a huge priority. It’s my desire to partner with you in whatever way I can to help your child grow closer to Jesus, to be filled with His Life for His Glory. This packet you are currently holding in your hands will provide you with an overview of the HSM; what we do and why we do it. Please never hesitate to call or email me with any questions, comments, or concerns you may have. And yes, encouragement is always a plus as well :) Looking forward to getting to know you!

HSM Vision Why we do What we do.

The (3) Ingredients.

“To Bring Life to People and Glory to God!”

Worship. Connect. Serve.

Worship: We want to do everything we can to see Christ formed in the lives of our youth, so much so that they begin to live out their God-given calling and embrace a life of worship where Jesus Christ is Central. Connect: We want to see teenagers connected with God and com-mitted to being with other believers in the way He designed us to be connected; to grow in knowledge and understanding of who God is and to become a connected and committed conduit of His Grace.

Serve: We want to equip teenagers to actively serve, being out-fitted with life and leadership skills and an understanding of what it means to serve God, each other, and the Church with their lives.

Our Foundation

Philosophy Overview

In Matthew 22:36-40 Jesus was asked, “What is the greatest commandment?” He states we are to love God and love man. Everything we do centers around this principle of embracing the heart of God and reaching out to the heart of man.

The Work Of Our Ministry

Colossians 1:28-29 challenges us to help present students complete in Christ. As leaders we need to be mindful of a lifetime Christian commitment. We not only want to help students during the adoles-cent years but prepare them to continue their walk with Christ throughout their lifetime.

8 Keys To Effective Ministry

As we’ve searched the scriptures we have found eight keys to ef-fective youth ministry: Prayer, Worship, Fellowship, Teaching/Discipleship, Service, Evangelism, Leadership Development, and Family Ministries. Each quarter we plan experiences that involve these key ingredients

OUR STRATEGY: • Creative, interactive and practical teaching. • Small Groups • Large group teaching (see topics and traits) • Adult leaders investing and shepherding students. • Guest Speakers

OUR STRATEGY: • Training: Students will be trained to share their faith and invite friends to Sea-

coast. • Outreach Events: Seasonal trips, Hume Lake, Concerts, etc • Community Outreach: “Hope for the Homeless”, Community Resource Cen-

OUR STRATEGY: • We want to involve both the student and his/her parent(s), to foster mutual

know. experience. do.

KNOW: Assurances of Salvation, Answered Prayer, Victory, Forgiveness, & Guidance; and how to share them. Biblical literacy & basic theology Apologetics & Christian worldview Engraining a spiritual/moral compass; the ability to recognize non-Christian messages in settings such as academia and the media.

In Col. 1:28, the call is clear: “...so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.” We only have 4 years with our students in the HSM and it’s our de-sire to see them grow to maturity in Christ. We’ve compiled a list of things that we want our students to know, experience and do before they gradu-ate and enter into their college and young adult years.

Experience: Worship Discipleship/Teaching/Small Groups Family Ministry Fellowship/Community: relational ministry; not just programs Leadership Development Prayer: instruction, private + corporate Serve: ministry within the church, outreach Evangelism

Do: Serve: Use their gifts to build the Body of Christ. Have a quiet time (Bible study, prayer, meditation) Articulate their faith Share their faith with a non-believer Hold to their faith in a hostile environment. Commit to serving Gods Church by belonging to our (a) local fellow-ship.
