MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAMS IN INDIA SINCE 1997

About Us

Illinois Institute of Technology Chicago (IIT C) USA is offering a few Master’s Degree Programs in India, as offered in Campus at Chicago, since 1997. Students pursuing the Master’s program, get the same degree as Campus students, with similar placement opportunities. Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago (IIT-C) is a Ph.D. granting, private First Tier PhD granting Research University in Chicago, USA established in 1890. The university is well known for its Interaction with Industries. It has its own research Center, called IIT Research Institute (IITRI). IIT-C offers dozens of accredited programs in Engineering, Science, Architecture, and Business & Law etc in Chicago. IIT-C is the leader in class room teaching to remote students from Chicago Campus, since 1976. With GOVT of India approval, IIT-C established its wholly owned subsidiary, ILLINOIS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (I) PRIVATE LIMITED (IIT-I) and launched Information Technology related Master Degree Programs in India in August 1997. Subsequently, Other Master’s Degree programs were added. We have more than 25 companies participating in our programs like, Motorola, Honeywell, Oracle, Godrej, Sasken, Kirloskar, Cisco, Juniper,Networks, Phillips, Qualcomm, IBM, Intel, Verisign, Indicus Software, Tektronix, Tech Mahindra, Adobe etc. since 1997.

Accreditation

IIT Chicago is accredited by the North Central Association (NCA) of Colleges and Secondary Schools in USA. Specific professional curricula are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission and the Computing Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). IIT-Chicago has been offering following Master's Degree programs and Certificate programs in India since 1997 & subsequent years.

Teaching Methodology And Examinations:

Teaching is done from a CLASS ROOM IN CHICAGO CAMPUS. All Courses (called as Subjects in India) are entirely taught by professors in Chicago campus, using Hi-Tech E learning Technologies. Professors usually teach about 20 students spread in 4 sections, Campus Classroom, IITV remote sites in Chicago, Internet section in US and India Internet section.

For each course, one lecture of 3 Hrs per week (referred as 3 CREDIT HRS) is conducted for 14 to 16 weeks. Lecture as delivered in classroom is uploaded in Internet in about 24 Hours. Students anywhere in the world can attend these lectures by logging on to BLACK BOARD with a unique user name and Password and such lectures can be watched anytime of the day and any number of times. Doubts if any are raised through E mail to Professors and get answered quickly. Students can discuss issues with professors, in Video / Audio conference mode, with prior notice. Students in India section do the same assignments and projects and also write the same examinations as campus students do. All these get evaluated at Campus by the professor concerned and grades are announced. Occasionally “LIVE-ON-SITE” courses are organized where in a professor from IIT (Chicago) visits India and conducts LIVE classes. Master’s program can be attended completely in India or in Chicago, or partly in India and rest in Chicago. For Professional Master’s program, a student is expected to successfully complete 10 Courses, each of 3 Credit Hours.

These programs, which fill a major gap in the higher education curriculum

1. Have attractive consideration and attention to both industry and academic institutions. 2. Have tremendous benefits to fresh students as well as companies. 3. Are delivered in convenient settings, and are economically priced 4. Can be completed on a part-time basis by working Professionals. 5. Can be done without having to visit US. 6. Are attractive for Fresh graduates who are looking to gain a competitive edge in the job market.

Master of Science in Electrical Engineering- 32 Credit hours

The purpose of this degree is to prepare students for advanced study and/or research and industry in the field of electrical

engineering. The Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (M.S.E.E.) is a degree program combining breadth across several areas

of study within electrical engineering and specialization within one area, which includes an option to pursue thesis research under

the guidance of a faculty adviser. Areas of study include communication and signal processing; computers and microelectronics;

and power and control systems. The program is normally completed in three semesters of full-time study.

Students whose accredited B.S. degree is not in electrical engineering may pursue the M.S.E.E. provided that they have an

adequate background and can demonstrate proficiency in the material contained in undergraduate courses equivalent to IIT's ECE

211 and ECE 213 (Circuit Analysis I and II), ECE 218 (Digital Systems), ECE 307 (Electrodynamics), ECE 308 (Signals and Systems),

ECE 311 (Engineering Electronics), MATH 251 (Multivariate and Vector Calculus), and MATH 252 (Introduction to Differential

Equations).

A student may demonstrate proficiency by successfully completing the courses or by demonstrating satisfactory performance in

one or more special examinations administered by the department. The program of study includes a minimum of 32 credit hours

of acceptable graduate coursework, with a minimum of 20 credit hours of ECE courses at the 500-level or higher. Up to six credits

of ECE short courses may be applied to the degree.

Students, with their adviser, select courses appropriate to their needs and interests. The program of study must include four

courses within one of the electrical engineering (EE) areas of concentration listed below and one course from each of the two

remaining areas. An M.S.E.E. candidate may, with permission of a thesis adviser, include in his or her program a thesis of six to

eight credit hours. The master’s thesis is recommended for pre-doctoral students. The thesis option requires a written thesis and

an oral defense of the thesis. Thesis format and deadlines are set by the Graduate College.
