The choir, Studio Time singers and dancers provided entertainment with a concluding slide production of 2013 at MPS. As mentioned at the ceremony, the ultimate goals is to do your best and I especially applaud the students who may not have received an award on this occasion but came along with a smile to support their brother or sister or friend. Congratulations are extended to the 2013 student leaders for their outstanding presentations: Isabelle Bilton, Andrew Newton (captains); Sara Campbell, Connor Harris (vice captains); Grace Gaston, Stephanie Kennett, Christopher Sim and Bradley McLane (prefects). As always, Mrs June Hollands gave an inspiring speech as a prelude to presenting two students, Save Seeto and Thomas Blatchford with the Stan Hollands’ Memorial Awards. Mrs Hollands spoke of the virtue of being honest and acting with integrity – the very essence of living a good life. Several notes congratulating the students and staff have been received from guests, along with a special compliment offered on Friday morning by kindergarten student, Andrew Baxter-Tomkin – a true gentleman at such a very young age! MUSIC CONCERT: Mr Roberts, Ms Drenkhan and the MPS music students provided a fantastic afternoon of music for an appreciative audience last Tuesday. The students gave both solo and group recitals with a range of instruments – saxophone, clarinet, flute, piano, guitar, ukulele and cornet. Well Done! Tomorrow, MPS is hosting a visit from the Souths Care group, presenting an Oral Health program for K-6 children in the school hall and followed by a football clinic for students in Years 3-6. Children are invited to wear red and green for the day and bring along a gold coin donation that will be presented to a local children’s organisation. This is a school event for primary children and we will be welcoming students from Moree East PS and St Philomenas for the program. ASSEMBLIES: Last week, classes KL-8 and KR-9 presented a delightful Christmas pageant for a large and appreciative audience. The children are to be congratulated for their attention to detail – miming with great skill, acting, singing and dancing.
