Preliminary Research

We based the idea for our script off of one of our group member’s Plot Fest

Assignments. The original idea was “A man spends his whole life pretending to be a

superhero and then surprises himself when he saves someone’s life with a power he didn’t

know he had”. We came up with the idea of incorporating a variety of popular superhero

within the script using costumes, set design, and music while making our protagonist

superheroes obsessed.

Since we are not familiar with superheroes and comics we had to research specific

superheroes that would be appropriate to incorporate within our script. We also

researched different superhero powers because we wanted John, our main character, to

have somewhat realistic and unique super powers.

Another area of our final project that took a lot of time and research was coming up

with a name for our movie. From the start, we knew we wanted the title to be John’s

“superhero” name. Wanting to encompass his seemingly scrawny build, we looked up

uncommon synonyms for the word “scrawny” and felt that “feeble” was the best fit. In

order to portray his super powers we thought of the word “force”. We felt that the use of

alliteration in the title made it strong and easy to remember.

FEEBLE FORCE

A TREATMENT FOR A FEATURE FILM SCREENPLAY

The Past.

New Jersey suburb.

Bedroom.

Morning.

Through the escalating lyrics of the Batman theme song the autumn

breeze enters through the opened window blowing the Superman

covers off the left side of the NASCAR inspired bed. Suddenly a

scrawny arm appears from underneath the covers to snooze the

annoying melody.

Up springs a skinny little body energetic to start his day. He

lays down the ground and attempts to do his daily set of pushups.

Collapsing after number two, JOHN struggles to pick his 5 lb.

dumbbell off the floor. Slipping through what he thought was a

strong grip, his mother screeched from the kitchen. Work out time

was over.

Leaping into the bathroom, John makes eyes at what he sees as a

muscular frame. Instead he is a slender young boy with scruffy

brown hair and big round puppy dog eyes.

He glances down to unzip his Ironman onezie then proceeds to pick

out that days attire from his vast collection of superhero

ensembles. Once securing his Batman tidy whites, he quickly

fastens his spider man outfit before attempting to fly down the

stairs.

Bursting into the kitchen he quickly grabs his Superman Lunch Box

and matching backpack, 2 pieces of toast and kisses him mom before

sprinting out the door. Knowing he forgot something, he drops his

bag and heads for the fridge, stealing the gallon of milk from the

top shelf. His mom screams after him but he ignores her and heads

for the big bad bus stop.

Confidently entering the chaotic bus, John is instantly shoved

into a two person seat. PETE DURHAM spits on him while calling him

a freakish wannabe superhero.

The Present.

New York City downtown.

Apartment bedroom.

Morning.

Among the mahogany headboard lies a neatly made bed fully equipped

with colorful Superman sheets and pillow cases. At the bottom of

the bed lies a nicely folded, Hulk inspired blanket.

In the middle of the almost bare bedroom floor lies a 37 year old

JOHN.

Tall. Leanly built. Handsome in a geeky yet sophisticated way,

except for his eyes which appear youthful behind his thick framed

glasses.

He glances down and scrunches his face in a way that prepares him

for the pain he will endure while fulfilling his daily set of

pushups.

Successfully completing 15 grueling pushups, John heads over to

his walk in closet. First, he is drawn to the blinding right side

which houses his adorned superhero collection which has noticeably

expanded over the years.

Slipping into his ninja turtle outfit, he picks out a green button

up shirt from the left side of his closet. Being careful to cover

up all evidence of his juvenile getup, he throws on black dress

pants and a sports jacket.

Checking himself in the mirror before walking out the door, he

realizes there is some turtle material peeking out of the spaces

between his bulging shirt buttons.

The Present.

New York City downtown.

Starbucks.

Morning.

On the streets of Chicago, John heads directly for the Starbucks

located on the first floor of his office building, two blocks from

his apartment. Holding the door open for the attractive Starbucks

employee, JESSICA, who is visibly late for work on this Monday

morning; he once again finds himself lost in her gaze.

Coming back down to reality, he shakes his head out and focuses on

his next move. An embarrassing display of rowdiness motions for

him to join the group at the front of the line. Pete gives John a

friendly but aggressive punch.

Page 5: T206 Final Project

As the rest of the “office crew” files into the building lobby,

John is cursed with his habitual spell of silence as he attempts

to deliver his daily latte order. Distracted by Jessica’s obvious

beauty, she awkwardly signals John to hurry up and order.

The Present.

New York City downtown.

Office building.

Late Morning.

John exits the Starbucks into the lobby of his office

building and heads towards the elevator. He sees the geeky

ELEVATOR GUY whos rolled up comic book is sticking out of

his pocket. John approaches him and they do their secret

hand shake.

As John heads into his office, the door closes behind him. Before

we know it, the clock hanging above the office door fast forwards

to five o'clock. John's work day is finally over. He walks out

with his co-workers.

John, about to explode with embarrassment and rage, runs to the

elevator and presses the elevator down button repeatedly. Becoming

even more enraged and impatient, John shocks his co-workers and

himself when he unexpectedly yanks the steel doors apart just in

time for the elevator to arrive on his floor.

The Present.

New Jersey suburb.

Childhood home.

Evening.

John leaves the building and heads to his parking garage to get

his beat up Volkswagen Beatle. We see him jamming to Third Eye

Blind and singing along as he drives over the George Washington

Bridge into New Jersey territory. He pulls into his childhood

home. Getting out of the car, he takes off his three piece suit

one piece at a time and throws it in the trunk.

Everyones seated around the table. Mom is at the head while John

and DAD are seated across from one another. There is a little

tension in the room.

Dad gets up from the table and heads to the kitchen to cool off.

John kneels down to eye level with the bowl of mashed potatoes as

he tries to serve himself potatoes through controlling the spoon

with his eyes.

Page 6: T206 Final Project

Heating up and losing control of his rage and emotions, John goes

to push himself away from the dinner table and it unexpectedly

flies across the room. His parents are frozen in awe of the

incident that just unfolded infront of their eyes. John storms out

of the house and back into his car not even bothering to put his

suit back on and speeds down the residential street.

The Present.

New Jersey highway.

George Washington Bridge.

Evening.

As John approaches the bridge he notices a horrible bumper to

bumper traffic jam. So bad that the drivers and passengers in the

cars in front of him are parked and standing outside trying to get

a better view themselves.

John angirly puts his car in park, opens the door, and gets out to

get a better view. Feeling a jolt of adrenaline rush through his

body, he is instanatly aware that something is wrong. He pushes

through the crowd of people and approaches the cop blocking off

traffic.

Taking a step backward, John tries to concetrate on figuring out

what the commotion is all about. All of a sudden his eyes project

a beam of light and are able to zoom in close enough to see the

face of the woman being dangled off the edge of the George

Washington brigdge by a muscular, intimidating man.

Without hesitation Josh sprints past the COP pushing him aside,

runs to the edge of the bridge just as he sees the muscular guy's

grip loosen finger by finger as Jessica starts to fall into the

lethal, rough waters that lay below her. Not being able to take

his eyes off of Jessica, he jumps off to save her as if it isn't

the first time he has done it.

Only a few feet from the water John swoops under Jessica and saves

her from hitting the water. They touch down on the bridge and the

crowd starts to applaud. John gently lays Jessica down and

unexpectantly Jessica pulls his head in for a makeout session.

In the distance, John notices the MUSCULAR MAN being hancuffed and

guided towards the police car. John picks up the muscular guy up

over his head and throws him off the bridge, what seems to be, an

extroidinary distance into the night. As the crowd hears the loud

splash they begin to cheer with joy. John walks back over to

Jessica and another makeout session begins.

New York City.

Press conference.

Afternoon.

John is sitting at a long press conference table with microphones

in front of him next to Jessica and Pete Durham. He has a huge

smile on his face as the news channels, newpapers, and paparrazi

blind him with their flashing cameras eager to take his picture.

The Present.

New Jersey suburb.

Childhood home.

Afternoon.

Mom and Dad are seated on the couch in the living room watching

John's press conference on TV. As tears start to fall from Dad's

eyes he removes his t-shirt and jeans and reveals that he too

wears a superman costume underneath his clothes.

Boys! Dinner is ready.

MOM

sobs quietly)

Why can’t we ever just have a nice,

peaceful dinner?

DAD

(Storms back in. Slams fists

onto the table)

Maybe its because your son still

walks around in fricken Halloween

costume. Maybe its because your son

tries to use his "super powers" to

serve himself the food you slaved

over all day. Maybe its because

your son still thinks he;s in the

5th grade living on his own fricken

planet!!!

MOM

You, you stop that right this

minute! There is nothing wrong with

our son, he is just different! End

of story!!!

JOHN

AHHH! Oh my god! Jessica!!!!!! I’m

Without hesitation Josh sprints past the cop pushing him

saves her from hitting the rapid waves below.

JOHN

(Looking into Jessica’s eyes

flying up towards the bridge.

Winks.)

Hey, Beautiful.

This is not legal! You can’t let

him do this to me. Let go of me!

JOHN

Let go of you? Okay, if you say so.

(John picks up the muscular man up over his head and throws

him off the bridge, what seems to be, an extraordinary

distance into the night. As the crowd hears the loud splash

of the muscular man into the river, they begin to cheer with

joy. John walks back over to Jessica and another make out

know you could fly?

JOHN

(his voice trails off in the

distance)

Well, you see I’ve always had this

feeling I had super powers. Ever

since I was little I just felt

different...

10 INT. PARENT’S HOUSE- AFTERNOON 10

Mom and Dad are seated on the couch in the living room

watching John’s press conference on TV.

MOM

(crying with happiness wiping

them with a tissue)

Look at our little boy! He’s so

famous! And that billboard! Oh, I’m

the proudest mother in the world!

DAD

Yeah, he is something isn’t he? I

feel terrible for the other night.

(Speaks quietly to himself

directing comments at John)

I love you, Son. I’m always proud.

You go get ’em boy.

As tears start to fall from Dad’s eyes he removes his

t-shirt and jeans and reveals that he is wearing a superman

costume underneath his clothes.

John likes to sport his Ninja Turtle

costume under his work apparel. He has

saved up a large collection of superhero

outfits over the years. The muscular lines

and overall tightness featured in the Ninja

Turtle costume make John feel powerful.

Although he does not wear the matching

mask to work, he likes to wear it in the

company of his parents and Scooter, his

dog. Underneath the costume, John

flaunts Superman boxers and matching

socks. The bright colors signify his true

character and obvious immaturity.

In the office, Pete portrays a modern

professional persona. He wears a button

up shirt and a suit jacket accompanied by

a pair of classy dress pants. A tasteful

burgundy tie adds a little spice to the

bland ensemble. Stylish dress shoes with

a matching briefcase are a must in a

professional office environment. His

watch is chic and displays the fact that he

does well for himself.
