For the beginning we intended for the audience to mistake the first character on screen that has sufficient screen time for the main character much like in Hitchcock’s psycho. However it is to be noted that his name is not mentioned, this is intentional as a character with no name depersonalizes them and makes them less relatable to the audience – this highlights that he is a victim

and little more.

The presentation of this shot and others that follow were intentionally filmed to make appropriate use of the rule of 3rds.As we can see in the shot the newer character is on the left and is taller than the character on the right, this makes the newer

look more powerful than the character on the right, thus further making the character on the right less relatable as our eyes as an audience are drawn initially to the left – making the left side instantly more relatable and the right less popular, and less popular

characters are more likely the victims.

In this shot we intended for the audience to be shocked by the sudden turn of events, thus creating a hasty feeling of wanting to know what will happen next , this was a very good technique as it keep the audience from being bored and creates keen interest in the story. We also used a sound bridge to connect the gunshot from the last scene as it is an effective technique that keeps the

flow linear and interesting.

Our intention for our montage scene was for character development and effect, as since there is no current dialogue the audience is free to analyze the current scene and revise previous events – hopefully the audience would come to the conclusion that the killer is drunk and has various troubles from his degree of intoxication. The music adds a retro feel to the montage as we wanted the audience to experience an 80’s feel as various high rated films emerged from that era and that would place our film in

a positive light.

The following scene confirms to the audience that the killer was indeed drunk as he shows typical hangover symptoms. We wanted the audience to know that he was human through this, as it has been known for some killers in thrillers to have lost their

humanity through various killings.
