The Appeal is being organized by Primary 6 Confirmation candidates as a sign of their practical witness to their faith. It is also a powerful way to live-out our Lenten commitment to almsgiving. The young people of P.6 are inviting everyone in the parish to put together a backpack filled with goodies for needy children living oversees in poverty. These simple backpacks enable impoverished children to go to school equipped with the basic necessities for learning. It is our hope that every family in the community will take part in the project. If you can help please fill an old backpack and drop it off at the Church or Chapel House before Monday 7 th March. It is not necessary to fill the backpack with all the suggested items – just as much as you are able. Below you will find useful suggestions to help you. It is our hope that every family in the community will take part in the project. If you can help please fill an old backpack and drop it off at the Church or Chapel House before Monday 7th March. For more information please contact Fr. Brian Lamb at St. Joseph’s, Blantyre on 01698 823896.

PARISH CATERER The parish is looking to employ a Catering Manager to oversee the running of the kitchen when the Parish Halls reopen after the renovation. Applicants are required to have relevant food handling qualifications, as well as good experience catering for large numbers of people. Applicants should forward CV’s to Fr. Kane at the Chapel House. Closing date for applications is Monday 14th March 2016. Applicants will be required to attend an interview.

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER An ecumenical service will be held on Friday 4th March at 7.30pm in St. Bernard’s Church.

CHURCH CARPARK Parishioners will be aware that the Church car park is now in a poor condition. A full scale repair was considered imprudent at this stage, especially because of the regular traffic of heavy works vehicles at the hall. A temporary repair has, however, been scheduled and will begin as soon as weather permits. Please be careful when driving or walking in the Church yard until the repairs are completed.

TOILET FACILITIES Two portable cubicle toilets have been setup in the Church car park for use by parishioners.

BETHLEHEM OLIVE WOOD ITEMS Those with items to collect from last weekend should pick them up from the Parish Shop.

CONFIRMATION DATE This will be celebrated by Bishop Toal this Thursday 25th February 2016, 7.00pm. Rehearsals will take place during school time in the coming week. Parents should ensure they have chosen a suitable Sponsor who is a practicing Catholic and able to attend the Confirmation Mass on Thursday.

SCIAF BOXES Please collect your SCIAF pack and remember the UK Government will DOUBLE all donations this year!

WORLD YOUTH DAY – POLAND There are still spaces available for this pilgrimage (21 July – 1 August 2016). £450pp, includes all transport, accommodation and entrance fees. Please speak to Fr. Kane asap if you are between 18 – 35yrs and interested in joining the group.
