All strike their breast three times during the following two lines:

through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault; therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

FIRST READING | PRIMERA LECTURA Isaías 61:1-3abcd

(Proclaimed in Spanish.)

ALL: Te alabamos, Señor.

PSALM 89 | SALMO 88 Mary Frances Reza OCP Publications

Cantaré eternamente las misericordias del Señor.

Forever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.

LITURGY OF THE WORD| LITURGIA DE LA PALABRA

16

SECOND READING | SEGUNDA LECTURA Romans 12:4-8

(Proclaimed in English.)

Brothers and sisters: As in one body we have many parts, and all the parts do not have the same function, so we, though many, are one Body in Christ and individually parts of one another. Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us exercise them: if prophecy, in proportion to the faith; if ministry, in ministering; if one is a teacher, in teaching; if one exhorts, in exhortation; if one contributes, in generosity; if one is over others, with diligence; if one does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.

The Word of the Lord. ALL: Thanks be to God.

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION |ACLAMACIÓN ANTES DEL EVANGELIO

From Mass of the Resurrection Randall DeBruyn; OCP Publications

I am the good shepherd, says the Lord; I know my sheep, and mine know me.

John 10:14

17

GOSPEL | EVANGELIO John 10:11-16

(Proclaimed in English.)

Deacon: The Lord be with you.

All: And with your spirit.

Deacon: A reading of the Holy Gospel according to John.

All: Glory to you, O Lord.

Jesus said: "I am the good shepherd. A good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. A hired man, who is not a shepherd and whose sheep are not his own, sees a wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away, and the wolf catches and scatters them. This is because he works for pay and has no concern for the sheep. I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I will lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. These also I must lead, and they will hear my voice, and there will be one flock, one shepherd."

Deacon: The Gospel of the Lord. ALL: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

HYMN TO THE HOLY SPIRIT | INVOCACIÓN AL ESPÍRITU SANTO

Veni Creator Spiritus

(English Translation) Creator Spirit, Lord of grace,

Come make in us your dwelling place! O purest Light, in darkness shine; Fill loveless hearts, O Love divine!

O Spirit, hear your people’s cry! Come down, O Gift of God most high!

Descend in peace, O heavenly Dove; Come fount of life; come, flame of love!

As once on Christ the Servant’s head The oil of seven-fold grace you shed,

So now anoint from love’s deep springs Your chosen prophets, priests, and kings!

Of every gift the living source, Of mighty deeds the unseen force, The Father sends his Promised One to speak for all who serve his Son!

Keep far all those who wish us ill! O dove of peace, be with us still!

In every danger at our side, O Friend, befriend us; be our guide!

Reveal to us the Father’s love, Reveal his Son, who reigns above!

To truth, O truth, make all souls true; In love, O Love, make all things new!

To God the Father glory be, And to the Son from death set free;

And to the Holy Spirit raise our praise to God for endless days. Amen.

COMMUNION MEDITATION | MEDITACIÓN DE COMUNIÓN

Perfieto é Quem te Criou The One who Made You is Perfect

(Sung in Portuguese.) Walmir Alencar

If one day an angel told you, That you were full of grace, I think then, who am I Not to tell you the same. Full of grace, O Mother! Full of grace, O Mother! Graced. If the Word teaches, And all agree, And all generations proclaim it, Then, I too will say it. You are blessed, O Mother! You are blessed, O Mother! Blessed. A great sign appeared in the sky, A woman clothed with the sun, With the moon under her feet, And on her head a crown. No one compares to you, Perfect is the One who created you. If the Creator crowned you, then, We crown you, O Mother! We crown you, O Mother! We crown you, O Mother! Our Queen!

EXPLANATION OF BISHOP LEWANDOWSKI’S COAT-OF-ARMS

The Coat-of-arms of Bishop Bruce A. Lewandowski, C.Ss.R. is a red shield with interwoven symbols in vibrant colors. The vibrant colors reflect hope for recovery during the coronavirus pandemic of 2020. There are no boundaries within the shield as there are no limits to God’s plentiful redemption. The overall colors of red and white are symbolic of the bishop’s rich Polish heritage. The episcopal, broad-brimmed hat is the shape of that worn by

missionary priests on the early American frontier. At a young age,

Bishop Bruce had the desire to work as a missionary, trekking through

the wilderness on horseback bringing the sacraments to God’s people.

THE EUCHARIST

The white rays streaming from behind the cross against the red background depict God’s infinite mercy flowing from the Body and Blood of Christ, pervading the whole of our lives. (continued on next page)

28

THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit breaks the edge of the shield as it is the privilege of the Holy Spirit to inspire new life and envision endless possibilities for the Church, God’s people. THE TOWER

The tower with the blue shield is the seal of the Diocese of Toledo in Ohio, reminiscent of the tower of Toledo in Spain. The tower is a symbol of spiritual wealth, hope and the promise of freedom for all. Bishop Lewandowski was born and raised in this diocese. It was there that he first discerned his call to the Redemptorist life and priesthood. THE CROSS

The cross over three hills with a lance and a sponge are symbols from the seal of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (the Redemptorists), which portray the heart of the bishop’s religious life and formation. MARY

The Greek abbreviation for “Mother of God” is found on the icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help and reflects the bishop’s dependence on Mary’s motherly strength and intercession and his desire to make her known wherever he serves.

The Bishop’s motto, Because by Your Holy Cross, quotes The

Testament of St. Francis of Assisi which was adopted by St. Alphonsus

Liguori in his well-known devotional work The Way of the Cross. It

reflects Pope Francis’ vision of God’s love made known through Jesus,

sacrificed on the cross, and the missionary disciples’ vocation to

continue the work of Redemption.
