System analysis:

Analysing the system implies designing the system such that

the system should contain orderly grouped, flexible, dynamicand interdependent component linked together according to

the plan to achieve a specific objectives.

System analyst:

A system analyst is a person who designs a system for change

i.e. a system should be flexible.

The roles and tasks of system analyst:

A system analyst primary responsibility is to identifyinformation needs of an organization & obtain a logical

design of information system which will meet this

needs. A system analyst have to design a system which should

be efficient to

1.Managers2.Users of the system3.Computer programmers

We can find out the roles and task of informationsystem analyst in the following 8 categories

1.Defining requirement.2.Prioritizing requirements by consensus.3.Gathering data, facts and opinions of users.4.Analysing and evaluation.5.Solving problems.

So let us discuss the roles as mentioned above;

1.Defining requirement: It is most important anddifficult task to system analyst here the analyst have to

covers point that are,

i. Interviewing users.ii. Finding out the current information of users which

they use

iii. In what kind of information they lacking behind, ifthat information provided will it work?

2.Prioritizing requirements by consensus:Here the system analyst have to set a priority list to

provide information as the requirements of users this

can be done by,

i. Having a common meeting with usersii. An analyst should maintain good interpersonal

relations & diplomacy among the users.

3.Gathering data, facts and opinions ofusers: Here the analyst has to design the system by

the mentioned priorities & consulting users

continuously.

4.Analysing and evaluation: A system analyst hasto analyse the current information system in the

organization & finds out to what extent they meet users

needs. Here the key to good analysis is to reject

redundant data and focus on important data. Graphical

means is use full in this task.

5.Solving problems: An analyst must study theproblems in depth and suggest alternate solutions to the

management. The relative difficulties in implementing

each of the alternatives and benefits of each must bedetermined so that a manager can pick what he

considers as the best solution.

6.Drawing up specification: an analyst shouldprovide a specification such that it should be easily

understood by users, managers and it can easily

implemented by system implementers. It must also take

into account expansion envisaged in the near future.

7.Designing systems: Once the specifications areaccepted, analyst designs the system. A design should

be understandable by system implementers. The design

should be flexible.

8.Evaluating systems: An analyst must criticallyevaluate the system after it has been use for reasonable

time period. A system analyst should gather the users

comments and he should carry out some necessary

improvements.
