BACKGROUNDThousands of Syrians in need, both inside Syria and in neighboring Jordan and Lebanon, have been helped by Islamic Relief USA’s generous community of donors, staff, and volunteers.

HOW YOU ARE HELPING...INSIDE SYRIA, Islamic Relief donors are helping to provide:1. Food parcels: rice, sugar, bulgur, canned beans, lentils, za’atar, olive oil, cans of tuna, tahini sauce with

molasses, flour, sweets2. Mattresses3. Blankets4. Medical equipment for at least 30 health facilities

While the situation inside and around Syria is volatile and could change, Islamic Relief is making every effortto accomplish its goal to deliver aid items to those who need it most. If changing conditions in the regionmake this impossible, Islamic Relief USA will provide assistance to address a similar need, and willupdate you—our generous donors—on the situation as quickly as possible.

IN JORDAN, Islamic Relief, in collaboration with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO), has helped support Syrian refugees by providing:

1. Food parcels: rice, sugar, oil, pasta, powdered milk, beans, cheese, salt, tomato paste, chicken stock2. Hygiene products: shampoo, soap, detergent, facial tissues, toothpaste3. Cooking fuel4. Baby items5. Mattresses, blankets and pillows6. Housing rent assistance7. Medicines and hospitalization, including urgent medical treatments, such as kidney dialysis and vital surgeries8. Special food packages distributed during the Ramadan and Udhiyah/Qurbani seasons in 2011 and 2012

Islamic Relief USA donors also helped deliver 5 forty-foot containers of additional emergency relief supplies,to the Zaatari refugee camp in January 2013. They included 24,000 lbs of powdered milk, nearly4,500 hygiene kits, 9,600 blankets, 2,760 pairs of winter boots, more than 3,000 pairs of shoes, nearly3,400 school kits, and more than 20,000 coats.

IN LEBANON, Islamic Relief has helped support Syrian refugees and host families by providing:

1. Food parcels: rice, sugar, lentils, peas, tomato sauce, noodles, pasta, beans, oil, halawa, salt, water, bread, halal luncheon meats, tea

2. Hygiene products: shampoo, soap, detergent, facial tissues, toothpaste3. Baby items4. Clothes5. Mattresses and blankets6. Kitchen sets7. Heaters and candles8. Mosquito repellants9. Special food packages distributed during the Ramadan and Udhiyah/Qurbani seasons in 2011 and 2012

URGENT ASSISTANCE TO SYRIAN REFUGEE FAMILIES IN JORDAN PHASE IDuration: 12/2011 – 5/2012Location: Maan, Zarqa, Mafraq, Amman, Ramtha, and Irbid, Jordan Project Summary: Assisted Syrian refugee families with basic necessitiesAchieved Outcomes: Secured the basic needs of 2,147 Syrian refugee families (8,045 individuals) through thedistribution of necessary food items, non-food items, winterization items, and provision of housing rentFood: Rice, sugar, cooking oil, pasta, powder milk, beans, salt, tomato paste, feta cheese, chicken stock bullion,lentils, canned meatHygiene kits: Shampoo, soap, sanitary napkins, clorox, laundry detergent, dishwashing soap, facial tissue,toothpaste, baby diapersWinterization: Kerosene for heating and jerry can of gas for cookingHousing: Rent subsidyNumber of people helped: 2147 families

CURRENT PROJECTS

HOSPITALIZATION ASSISTANCE FOR SYRIAN REFUGEES IN JORDANDuration: 8/2012 – 4/2013Location: Amman, al Karak, Maan, Zarqa, Irbid, Ramtha, MafraqProject Summary: Provision of urgent medical care for 100 Syrian refugees in Jordan. Patientsinclude men, women and children with injuries suffered in Syria. Working in four hospitals in Jordan:Specialist Hospital in Amman, Specialist Hospital in Irbid, and Islamic Hospital in Amman. Started treatingpatients in Akila Hospital in Amman.Achieved Outcomes: 160 patients have been treated as of February 2013Number of People Helped: 160 individuals treated, but number expected to increase until project completion

SUPPORTING DISPLACED SYRIANS IN LEBANON WITH EMERGENCY SUPPLIES Duration: 8/2012 – 2/2013Location: Northern Casa Akkar (Wadi Khaled village); Bekaa Casa (Faour, Barelyas, and Saadnayel villages);Southern Casa (Saida City); and Mount Lebanon Casa (Ketermaya, Barja, and Cheem villages), LebanonProject Summary: Providing food items (FIs) and non-food items (NFIs) as well as medication to Syrian refugees(approx. 28,000 to 30,000 individuals) in Lebanon as well as their host families (450 host families/2,250individuals) including:Food Kits: Rice, white sugar, red lentils, macaroni, noodles, coarse grits, sunflower oil, beans, humus, tomatosauce, halal luncheon meat, salt, margarine, tea, breadHygiene Kits: Shampoo, liquid soap, dish cleaning liquid, Clorox, towels, bathroom tissues, sanitary pads,laundry detergentBaby Items: Diaper bag, baby blanket, baby towel, small napkins, bib, baby clothing, baby shampoo, baby soap,baby powder, changing pads, pillow, baby diapers Household Items: Mattresses, kitchen sets, blankets, carpeting, candles, water, winter blankets, mosquitorepellents Number of People Helped: 18,453 individuals as of January 2013, but project is ongoing

HUMANITARIAN RELIEF FOR SYRIANS IN SYRIA VIA TURKEYDuration: 12/2012 – 5/2013Location: Suburbs of Idlib including Maarat Al Noman area, suburbs of Aleppo, Hamah suburbs, east area(Al Bkamal, Al Mayadeen and Deir El Zoor), refugee camps at border areas (Atma camp, Qah camp and AlKarama camp), and suburbs of coastal area Project Summary: Assisting 33,500 individuals inside Syria by providing:Food Kits: Rice, sugar, bulgur, canned kidney beans, canned white beans, lentils, zaatar, olive oil, tuna cans,tahini with molasses, flour, and sweetsNon Food Items: Mattresses and blankets for IDPs in Syria.Medical Care: Medical equipment and medicines for 30 hospitals Number of People Helped: Expected 33,500 (project in progress)

AID FOR SYRIAN REFUGEES IN ZAATARI REFUGEE CAMPProject Summary: Five forty-foot containers of emergency relief supplies have been donated by IRUSA to assistSyrian Refugees in Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan. Containers arrived in January 2013 and included:

- 24,000 pounds of powdered milk- 4,480 hygiene kits- 9,600 blankets- 2,760 pairs of boots- 3,240 pairs of shoes- 3,360 school kits- 27,760 coats
