EcoStar was established in 1993 to meet the need for a recycled synthetic alternative to natural slate roofing. That need led to the manufacture of our first line of synthetic product – Majestic Slate. The Maximum Appeal of Niagara SlateBigger is better when it comes to EcoStar’s latest innovation. Niagara Slate is a natural-looking, 5/8" thick, synthetic slate roofing tile produced in 12" and 14" widths. The 14" tile offers 40%+ more coverage and the 12" tile offers 20%+ more coverage than our Majestic Slate 12" Traditional tile for an even greater aesthetic appeal.

The added size allows each Niagara Slate 14" tile to cover one square foot of roof deck at the 10" exposure (100 tile/square) while maintaining a minimum 2" of headlap throughout. An additional 9" exposure option allows for the creation of unique looks using staggered or random width offset installations.

This design consumes less raw material, reduces roof load by up to 20% and lowers installation labor by 30%. Niagara Slate is available in our Majestic and Empire lines. Majestic Niagara Slate is manufactured from 80% post-industrial recycled materials and Empire Niagara Slate is manufactured from 25% post-industrial recycled materials.

EcoStar roofing tiles, including the larger Niagara Slate, provide long-lasting durability, superior protection against extreme weather conditions and 50 years of warranty coverage.

Tile blends for a natural look

Our Standard Blend uses a mixture of all three widths to give the tile a more natural appeal. For even greater visual impact, our Aspen Blend mixes all three widths with 70% 3/8" thick Empire Shake and 30% 3/4" thick Empire Shake Plus.

Standard blend is a mixture of Seneca Shake or Empire Shake in all three widths. Shake can be purchased in single sizes if desired.
