Synopsis 1.  INTRODUCTION  There is an old proverb which says “Give a man a fish and he will have something to eat for a day but teach a man how to fish and he will have somet hi ng to ea t for th e rest of hi s li fe, “Wi th re fe renc e to th e mode rn technology one can extend the definition and say that “Teach a man how to use the internet and he will not bother you for weeks.  The tremendous advances in technology and the aggressive infusion of information technology had brought in a paradigm shift in banking operations. Internet banking that has revolutionied the banking industry worldwide has turned out to be the nucleus issue of various studies all over the world. !owever there has constantly been a significant gap between bankers and customers with regard to Internet banking in India. The purpose of this pro"ect is to help fill significant gaps in knowledge about the Internet banking landscape in India. The pro"ect presents data, drawn from a survey of opinions of Internet banking users and their satisfaction level. It investigates the extent of usage, the profile of customers and their response towards Internet banking using univariate statistical analysis. #y the end of first $uarter, %&&', differences between Internet and non(Internet bank users had begun to emerge in funding, in sources of income and expenditures and in measures of performance. 1.  INTRODUCTION

  There is an old proverb which says “Give a man a fish and he will have

something to eat for a day but teach a man how to fish and he will have

something to eat for the rest of his life, “With reference to the modern

technology one can extend the definition and say that “Teach a man how to use

the internet and he will not bother you for weeks.

  The tremendous advances in technology and the aggressive infusion of

information technology had brought in a paradigm shift in banking operations.

Internet banking that has revolutionied the banking industry worldwide has

turned out to be the nucleus issue of various studies all over the world. !owever

Though #angalore has surpassed the silicon valley of 5) in )oftware -xports

and technological innovations, the level of Internet users in the city is

substantially low. There seems to be a digital divide between the 6omputer 

literates and the others. Though the citiens for checking mail, browsing,

chatting etc use Internet it is not used for banking transactions on a large scale.

The study is conducted to analye the usage of Internet for banking purpose.

The study is conducted to highlight the reasons for customer7s preference to

Internet banking.

To understand the profile of state bank of mysore.

To find the various factors which influence customers to avail internet

 banking facility.

To study about the awareness levels of Internet banking services among

the sbm customers.

To measure the level of usage of internet banking.

To measure the satisfaction of customers of sbm with respect to internet banking

facilities.

respondents, since where the $uestionnaires are not ade$uate, used personal

interview method for collecting data to draw the effective conclusion.

These are the data collected from various sources, used in addition to the

 primary data in the research. The various sources are the past records of the

 bank, magaine, bank websites, annual reports etc,
