Motivation and Challenges

• Mobility remains important

• Solutions need to be sustainable

• High demands on mobility in urban areas

• Increasing safety standards in urban traffic (not just on freeways)

• Assistance functionalities should be linked and coordinated

• The sub-project “Smart intersection” addresses the area near urban intersections

• Improvement of sub-optimal traffic by information, communication, cooperation and driver assistance.

„Better entrance to intersections“Optimizes entrance to an intersection/

adaption of driving to signal coordination

„Better decision support“Traffic horizon for local traffic state and turning restrictions
