SATURDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2018 (PAGE 12) DAILY EXCELSIOR, JAMMU CJI asks judiciary to be proactive in clearing backlog of cases NEW DELHI, Oct 12: Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi has asked Chief Justices and senior judges of high courts to be proactive in dealing effec- tively with the backlog of pend- ing cases, sources said. They said that while interact- ing with them through video con- ference last week he also asked them not to avail of Leave Travel Concession (LTC) during working days in order to deal with the backlog of cases in the judiciary. It was also learnt that in order to combat corruption in judiciary, Justice Gogoi had asked the Chief Justices of the high courts not to hesitate in withdrawing judicial work from judges who are under a cloud. Shortly before taking over as the 46th CJI on October 3, he had said that he has a plan to deal with the pendency of cases which has been bringing in a lot of "disre- pute" to the judicial system. The highly placed sources fur- ther said that the CJI has asked the judges to dispose of the infructu- ous cases. He had also asked them to consider the matters which are pending for over five years. There are 4.3 million cases pending in 42 high courts, accord- ing to the National Judicial Data Grid. As many as 55,946 cases are pending in the Supreme Court, according to its official website. (PTI) Sympathisers of terrorists doing no good to nation: BJP Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Oct 12: BJP State general secretary Yudhvir Sethi said those sympathising with ter- rorists are doing no good to the nation, as he lauded security forces for eliminating two ultras including top Hizbul commander and former PhD student Manan Wani in north Kashmir's frontier district of Kupwara. He also termed as "misleading and against the very spirit of Kashmiriyat" former chief minis- ter Mehbooba Mufti's remarks that Wani's death was "entirely our loss as we are losing young educated boys everyday". Sethi said giving statements "glorifying" militants and describing their killing as a loss are nothing but akin to fanning militancy. "The sympathisers of such people (terrorists) are doing no good to the nation. Security forces have done a commendable job by eliminating terrorists." Instead of "glorifying" such militants, Mehbooba should ask youths not to get misled by Pakistan only to be killed by the security forces, he said. Sethi also dismissed her sug- gestion that all the political par- ties in the country should try to facilitate a solution through dia- logue with all the stake holders including Pakistan to end "this bloodshed". Sethi said everyone in the country knows about the situation in Kashmir and that is why they have thrown their weight behind the security forces as they elimi- nate militants and even the "white collar ultras". Educated or uneducated mili- tants like Burhan Wani and Manan will continue to meet their fate at the hands of security agen- cies, he added. "Pakistan and militants backed by it have launched a proxy war against a mighty nation like India who has one of the best armies," Sethi said. Instead of encouraging young boys to take the wrong path or sympathising with the ultras, Mehbooba Mufti as a mainstream politician should ask them to con- tribute to the nation's economy and help their families grow stronger, he said. "She must...Have courage to call a spade a spade only then will the people, especially the youths of Kashmir, will not get misguid- ed," Sethi said. While many youths in Kashmir are engaging themselves in start-ups and having self- finances units or are studying in different parts of the country to make their future, youths like Manan are meeting their fate, he said. He also termed as "misleadingand against the very spirit ofKashmiriyat" former chief minis-ter Mehbooba Mufti's remarksthat Wani's death was "entirelyour loss as we are losing youngeducated boys everyday".

Sethi said giving statements"glorifying" militants anddescribing their killing as a lossare nothing but akin to fanningmilitancy. "The sympathisers ofsuch people (terrorists) are doingno good to the nation. Securityforces have done a commendablejob by eliminating terrorists."

Instead of "glorifying" suchmilitants, Mehbooba should askyouths not to get misled byPakistan only to be killed by thesecurity forces, he said.

Sethi also dismissed her sug-gestion that all the political par-ties in the country should try tofacilitate a solution through dia-logue with all the stake holdersincluding Pakistan to end "this

    bloodshed".Sethi said everyone in the

country knows about the situationin Kashmir and that is why theyhave thrown their weight behindthe security forces as they elimi-nate militants and even the "whitecollar ultras".

Educated or uneducated mili-tants like Burhan Wani andManan will continue to meet theirfate at the hands of security agen-cies, he added.

"Pakistan and militantsbacked by it have launched aproxy war against a mighty nationlike India who has one of the bestarmies," Sethi said.

Instead of encouraging youngboys to take the wrong path orsympathising with the ultras,Mehbooba Mufti as a mainstreampolitician should ask them to con-tribute to the nation's economyand help their families growstronger, he said.

"She must...Have courage tocall a spade a spade only then willthe people, especially the youthsof Kashmir, will not get misguid-ed," Sethi said.
