    Section 1 Overview

This document applies to Symmetrix VMAX Service Processors with the following baseline configuration:

    Using modem only.

    Running SymmIP_SLC.

    Upgraded Enginuity to 5876.251.161.

CSI Install Base must have a connection record set to SymmIP_SLC.

For customers using modem and SymmIP_SLC, the dial in connection fails after upgrading to Enginuity

5876.251.161. This is due to a permission issue within Microsoft Windows. This CSP discusses the patch

that must be installed after the upgrade to 5876.251.161 is complete.

    Section 2 Installation

    1. Ensure the CSI Install Base record for the system has the connection record set to SymmIP_SLC.

    2. Download the patch SIPPermissions.exe from EMC Online Support from one of the following links.

The fix is the same for every Symmetrix model so any one of the following links will provide access

    to the same fix:

    3. Copy the SIPPermissions.exe file to the C:\temp directory on the Service Processor.

    4. Execute the SIPPermissions.exe file by double-clicking the file or right-click the file name and select Run.
