Welcome to a fairground like no other. Adults and children play together, twirling handles and spinning pedals to operate the whimsical fairground machines – including a hand-cranked Ferris wheel fitted out with toilet seats and a bicycle-powered carousel with a whirling crocodile and a rocket ship. Recycled objects gain new life in surprising and spectacular ways, in the captivating wonderland of fun that is Arquitectura de Feria.
A European family of artisans led by Jordà Ferré and Oscar de Paz are travelling to Parramatta this summer to resurrect the life of old-style fairs, so come along and take your family on an adventure.

The internationally renowned writer and director Daniele Finzi Pasca has pulled off everything from an Olympic ceremony and a production with the English National Opera to Cirque du Soleil. Compagnia Finzi Pasca bring their mix of astonishing acts and fantastic visuals to Parramatta in La Verità, ushering in spirit and spectacle inspired by Spanish surrealist Salvador Dalí, with one of his recently rediscovered paintings as the backdrop.
Combining circus, clowning, acrobatics, dance and music – with an extra serving of humour and heart – Compagnia Finzi Pasca let their imagination run wild in a thrilling experience that is sure to have made that illustrious moustache twitch with delight.

CHOREOGRAPHY BY NICK POWER
Funky footwork, rocking rhythms, Cypher is a supple symphony of movement by four battle-hardened b*boys.
A raw celebration of hip-hop culture, Cypher is your chance to share the space with ultra-skilful (not to mention ultra-competitive) dancers as they thrash it out, pushing the boundaries of movement in a dazzling blur of limbs and trainers.
Australian hip-hop heavyweight and director Nick Power puts the crew through its motions while the booming beats of sound designer Jack Prest set a mean pace. If Cypher was any more in your face, it’d leave bruises.

UNCLE WES MARNE | AUSTRALIA
Uncle Wes Marne is a Bidgambul man. At the age of nine, the Government walked his family off tribal lands from the Stanthorpe Hills to Deadbird Mission, Ashford. The journey took three weeks. At 93, Uncle Wes is sharing his stories – of his grandfather’s dreaming, of bitterness and love, and of his life as an Elder living in Mt Druitt.
Over the last year, his friend Alicia Talbot has been recording his stories as they visit Deadbird, retracing his extraordinary life and reconnecting the past with the present and future.
Now Uncle Wes invites you to gather with him and Alicia around the fire bucket to move backwards and forwards across time. No two nights will be the same.

THEATRE
BY DAVID GREIGDIRECTED BY CLARE WATSONWITH CATHERINE McCLEMENTS AND SYDNEY COMMUNITY CHOIRS SET AND LIGHTING DESIGN BY GEOFF COBHAM
The brilliant Catherine McClements is joined by local community choirs in an extraordinary fusion of theatre and music.
Claire is a minister and the director of a choir that meets regularly in the local hall, made up of all sorts: the lonely, outsiders and the privileged. She has built a community, but in the aftermath of a
terrible act of violence, this community and the ideals that formed it are blown apart.
Subtle and mesmerising, The Events reveals the incredibly human reactions to trauma, asking the question: how do we live together knowing it can all come apart in a moment?

INSTALLATION/FREE
LAUREN BRINCAT AND BREE VAN REYK | AUSTRALIA
1000 BELLS is a large-scale installation that embraces the diversity of Sydney’s communities through the hand-making of 1000 ceramic bells.
Artists Lauren Brincat and Bree van Reyk will host workshops to create simple pinch-pot bells with local community groups throughout Sydney. Eventually the bells and their creators will reunite in a mass performance and installation in Prince Alfred Square.
There will be callouts and open workshops throughout greater Sydney
from October to December, where you can come and make bells, for all to enjoy.

MARU TARANGMaru Tarang offer an exquisite fusion of Indian folk and Australian roots, founded in the desert lands of Rajasthan, India. Famed Australian guitarist Jeff Lang and tabla player Bobby Singh join forces with two leaders in traditional Rajasthani music, sarangi master Asin Langa, and khartal virtuoso Bhungar Manganiyar. The resulting sound is rich, twangy slide guitar snaking its way around elegant string flourishes, hypnotic rhythms and mesmerising vocals.

Are you ready for some seriously golden, breezy West Coast vibes? Enter, on a keytar-shaped sunbeam, Pasadena’s maverick funk hero, DaM-FunK, who earned his chops as a sought-after player for G-Funk hip-hop artists in the 90s before deciding to go ‘full-funk’ and plough his own, extremely cool furrow. His joyous 2015 sophomore album, Invite the Light, features such free-thinking like minds as Ariel Pink, Q-Tip and Snoop Dogg.

Matthew E. White’s luscious country soul sound is irresistible. On record, the Virginia songman matches his velvet croon to rock’n’roll, gospel and soul stylings to swoonsome effect. Live at the Lennox, White’s incredibly tight quartet will perform his songs with hip-shaking grooves and fiery sensuality. Ecstatic crowd singalongs are a big part of the experience.
