SOLUTION
RELATED CONSIDERATIONS
The output of a SWM8, SW16, SWM32, SL3S or SL5S is
split to multiple rooms or apartments and the receiver
signal levels are low at distant locations.
Model LA142R boosts cable and DBS signal levels
off setting the loss of 150 feet of RG-6 while passing
data modem and receiver control signals from the
receiver to the switch.
This product is a universal coaxial amplifier. The
amplif ier works with ATSC, CAT V, DBS & SWM.
Includes passive 2 to 40 MHz sub-band return.
Model SD SWMA2 bidirectionally passes 2 to 806
MHz DECA, MoCA and receiver control signals for
applications where the 475 to 625 MHz band is required
at the amplifi er input.
Indoor / Outdoor Dual 54 to 3000 MHz DBS line
powered amplifier with forward gain and sub-
band 2 to 40 MHz passive return.

A garden style apartment building may be served with
a single set of DIRECTV dishes.
Model SWMBOX-A64 contains SWM8 and SWM16 switches to serve up to 16 apartments. Each SWM
output is split with model HRvS2P splitters to provide
up to (4) tuners per apartment.
The maximum recommended IDF to apartment
distance is 150 feet of RG-6 without a LA142R line
extender. Model LA142R extends SWM drop distances
while passing the 2 MHz control signals.

SITUATION: A large custom home has coax
to every room but some locations do not
have CAT5 outlets. Data and DIRECTV®
video services are required at all locations.
Drop distances and MRV loss exceed the 45
dB budget.
SOLUTION: MoCA provides the ability to
stream multiple high defi nition video and
data traffic throughout the home using
coax. Bridging DECA devises increases the
MRV budget.
SWM amplifi er model LA142R-T is used to
extend the IDF to receiver distances. SWM
diplexer models SD SWMD3 & SD SWMD2
are used to bridge the DECA devices. An
HR34 DVR at the IDF provides video server
functions.
SWM EXTENSION with MRV
DIRECTV® mutli-room viewing (MRV) sends high level
signals in the 475 to 625 MHz band from receivers. MoCA
data traffi c and MRV signals CAN share the same coax.
MoCA signals CAN NOT amplified since the network is
bidirectional. We bridge two MRV coax networks since
the receivers exceed the 45 dB maximum loss budget for
a single network. The (2) coax networks must be isolated.
Model SD SWMD3 is used on the un-amplified SWM2
port to extract the MRV signal to the DECABB. The SD
SWMD3 provides 60 dB of MRV rejection to the SWM2
port. The MRV loss from ROOM 1 to the SWM2 DECA
is 24 dB. The ROOM 1 receiver input is -55 dBm @ 1840
MHz. This includes the SLPIT8 loss, the loss of 100 feet
of RG-6 and the loss of the SPLIT2 splitter.
Model SD SWMD2 is used on the amplified SWM1
port to extract the MRV signal to the DECABB. The
LA141R-T blocks MRV from the SWM1 port. The MRV
loss from GUEST 2 to the SWM1 DECA is 32 dB. The
GUEST 2 receiver input is -53 dBm from the amplifi ed
SWM1 signal.
Note that a SPLIT2 splitter must be used rather than a
diplexer to separate the data and video signals. Both
the DBS receiver and the DECA device require MoCA
signals. ALL MoCA devices must “see” each other to map
out the network.
