The most common cam switches are represented in the new modular “Smart Switch” series. Face plates are supplied with the switch mechanism, and the modular design provides a cost effective method of covering most applications with minimal products as the KN23 handle will suit most applications. Match the switch mechanism and accessory colour code to ensure the switch mechanism and handle are compatible. Other Cam switch types are also available.

Keyed Switchlocks

Customised rotary switches assembled in Australia to meet your specific requirements.The RA series of robust, multi-pole rotary switches from Lorlin has long been a favourite of system designers. With increased demands for application specific designs and competitors raising minimum order vales to meet offshore manufacturing requirements the Lorlin RA series is a more competitive option.

The RA series offers a range of miniature, 25.4mm diameter multi-wafer rotary switches with up to 10 wafers with 6 poles per wafer, user adjustable stops and solder terminal connection are standard. Switches with up to two wafers also available with PCB terminals. The RA series is a robust design with metal spindles of 6mm and 6.3mm diameter, bushes and detent housings are also made out of metal. Detent indexing is available at 30, 45, 60 and 90 degrees.

Switch contacts may be specified as silver, gold flash or gold plated. Contacts are available as Make-Before-Brake or Brake-Before-Make and rated at 1A at 12VAC/DC and 150mA at 250VAC. A separate mains 4A rated ON/OFF switch module can be added to the assembly. Some of the most common types of customisation of the RA series rotary switches include, custom detents, tactile feel, modified shaft lengths and flats and multiple termination and customer specified cabling options.

A piezo switch is an electrical switch based on the piezoelectric effect. The charge generated by the piezoelectric element in the switch is typically used to turn on an integrated semiconductor device such as a field effect transistor (FET), causing the switch assembly’s output to be active, or “on”.

Piezo switches produce a single, brief “on” pulse. This pulse can vary with the amount of pressure which is applied, since higher pressures generate higher voltages which take longer to dissipate. A capacitor may be used to store the charge in order to lengthen the time constant of the gate circuit and therefore the width of the pulse. With additional circuitry this pulse can be extended further or used to change the state of an output from steady “Off” to steady “On” by toggling a flip-flop.

Many industrial processes require devices that are able to sense the level of liquid stored within various types of tank or chamber. The signals from these devices may be used to control the production process or to provide indication of the status.

One of the most reliable, well-proven technologies for liquid level sensing is a float switch. This type of switch comprises a magnet contained within a float, as well as a magnetic reed switch contained within a fixed housing. The movement of the float, due to the changing liquid level, will cause the reed switch to operate (i.e. close or open) at a particular level. This tried and trusted technology is based on a relatively simple design that offers long term reliability without the need for the user to calibrate the switch.

Specialty Switches

Controflex™ Ribbon Switches are normally open, momentary-contact switches for sensing, control, and other low-power applications. They are the essence of simplicity and reliable and are suited for applications ranging from general purpose switching to protection of personnel from safety hazards.

Construction consists of a bottom conductor separated by an insulating strip from an upper conductor, all in an insulated housing. They are self-bottoming, so they do not require the linkages, mountings, or interfaces of conventional sensing switches. Simple pressure completes the electrical contact. Life expectancy is millions of operations at any point. Ribbon switches are manufactured in a continuous process which is capable of producing switches thousands of feet long. They are then cut to length and terminated, as required, to make the finished product. Many mounting options are available, including aluminum or PVC channel, self-adhesive backing and doubled-sided foam tapes.

Controflex™ Ribbon Switches are available in 2-wire standard versions for general applications and 4-wire fail-safe versions for safety applications. They are compatible with Tapeswitch Fail-Safe Interface Controllers and are UL and cUL recognized, and CE approved.

This category of general purpose, pressure sensitive, ribbon switches are used for general switching and signaling. They are normally open, momentary contact switches that are actuated by pressure by hand, foot, or any mechanical device. The switch can be cut to length with shears and fastened in place with double-sided tape for temporary installations or Type 106 mounting channel for more permanent installations.

The Panic Alarm Signaling Switch is a switch-strip that can easily be operated by a hand, finger or arm. It can be operated over its entire length and so it is ideal for installation in hospitals, care homes, interview or consulting rooms, in fact anywhere where people may need to signal for help or assistance. The PASS is designed to be mounted along the wall of a room or even along the length of a corridor and can be configured to suit the shape of any room.

Collet KnobsThe main criterion in the design of collet knobs and accessories has always been function, styling handling and simplicity of use. Accessories, including caps, pointers, figure dials and nut covers have been designed to push-fit into the collet knob body. All collet knob bodies, caps, pointers and nut covers are manufactured in nylon with a finely textured matt finish. Transparent figure dials are manufactured in polycarbonate, coloured dials are in nylon. Collets, housings and nuts, fitted into the knobs during manufacture, are of brass and will accommodate a wide range of shaft lengths and diamteters.

These toggle switches are rugged, high performance sealed switches designed for use under severe conditions found in heavy equipment, industrial control, marine and appliance applications. The T7 series is sealed to both IP68S and IP69K. OTTO’s front panel seal is accomplished with an O-ring under the bat handle.

T7 toggles are offered in single and double pole configurations. A choice of models are offered to handle power levels to 16 amps, 0.5 HP and low level electronic switching applications. These toggles feature positive detent action for safe switching operation. In conjunction with the unique OTTO snap-action switch mechanism, the T7 offers non-teasible contact transfer.

High contact pressure and superior contact wiping action of the OTTO design makes the T7 an excellent choice for switching loads from logic level up to 16 amps. Mounting hardware provided includes two hex nuts, one lockwasher and one keyway washer.
