ConnectionsThe decisive advantage ofthe double door “contraflowtraffic” configuration lies inthe fact that each door leafcontrols just one direction,so separating the ingressand egress flows as usersenter or leave the buildingor area. There is also theadvantage that passagethrough the doors takesplace immediately becausethey always open in the walking direction. This solution is thereforeparticularly suitable fordoors in which there is aconstant or occasionallyheavy flow of users. Forexample, the entrances todepartment stores, leisurefacilities and administrationbuildings, and also the kitchen entrances of largerestaurants and hotels. The two swing door operatorsoperate individually: The control system of eachoperator governs all theparameters such as the opening, closing and hold-open times, and also thefunctions triggered by thesafety sensors.

In order to enter the restroom, the user has to operatethe externally positionedpalm pushbutton (3). Thisreleases the electric strikeplate (10) which operates inaccordance with the fail-safemode. The DORMA ED 200swing door operator (11)then receives an actuatingsignal and opens the doorfollowing a short delay. Onexpiry of the preset hold-open time, the DORMA ED 200 (11) then closes thedoor which is then locked.

Once inside the rest room, theuser switches off the externalpalm pushbutton (3) usingpalm switch/pushbutton (7),at the same time switchingon the occupied light locatedon the outside (5). The signal lamp (9) inside therest room also lights up forconfirmation purposes.

In order to leave the rest room, palm switch/pushbutton (7)is first operated. This releases the palm switch (3)and switches off the occupied lamp (5). The signal lamp (9) inside therest room also goes out. Atthe same time, the electric strike plate (10) is activatedand a delayed opening signal is transmitted to the ED 200 (11).

In the event of an emergency, the user can operate theemergency switch (8) fromthe inside in order to de-activate the electric keep(10) so that the door can be opened from the outside. At the same time, theaudible signal transmitter(6) is switched on; furtheroperation of the emergencyswitch (8) switches it offagain.

By operating the emergencypushbutton (4) locatedbehind the emergency breakglass on the outside, theelectric keep (10) can beswitched off and the dooropened manually. In theevent of a power failure, theelectric keep (10) is againswitched off to allow access.

Sensors ensure that thesweep range of the door iseffectively protected.

    Emergency exit security system

Under normal conditions, thedoor is locked (TV 100, TV 500electro-mechanical lock).Operation of the emergency push-button in the DORMA TL doorterminal causes the lock to beswitched off and the lock boltand latch of the DORMA SVP2000 (emergency escape motorlock with automatic lockingaction) to be retracted; at thesame time a system alarm is triggered. The DORMA ED 200simultaneously receives its opening signal. Authorised per-sonnel can initiate this sequenceof operations by means of thekey switch/momentary contactfacility of the DORMA TL or a

DORMA access control systemsuch as the CODIC facility. If theDORMA RM smoke detector responds, the DORMA TV lock isunlocked, the DORMA SVP 2000is locked and the DORMA ED 200is de-energised. In the event ofactivation from a central controlstation, the TV electro-mechanicallock is unlocked, the SVP 2000disengages and the ED 200 opensthe door. An approval certificatefrom the NRW MPA (StateMaterial Testing Authority) andalso a VdS approval certificate(German Association of PropertyInsurers) have both been issuedfor this system for use in emer-gency exit and escape routes.

    Insurance-compliant security locking system

In its closed state, the dooris locked by the DORMASVP 2000 emergency escapemotor lock with automaticlocking action (insurance-compliant security lockingsystem). The door can beopened at any time from theinside, with the unlockingaction of the DORMA SVP 2000 and the delayed operation of the DORMA ED 200 initiated eithermanually or by means ofpositive activators.Activation from a centralcontrol station is also

possible. Following closureof the door, insurance-compliant locking is re-instated fully automaticallyas the bolt of the DORMASVP 2000 is automaticallythrown each time the door is closed. The DORMA SVP 2000 is additionallycontrolled by the DORMASVP-S22 motor lock controlsystem which is installed in the extended cover of theED 200.

Doors designed to open when de-energised (fail-safe)

The door (single or double)is closed and locked by theDORMA TV 100 or TV 500electro-mechanical lock. TheDORMA ED 200 is equippedwith a special controlsystem and designed so thatit opens under spring loadand closes under motor power. There are two possibilitiesmodes of door operation:1. Unlocking and openingby one signal; closing andlocking by a repeat signal.2. Unlocking and opening by signal; automatic closingand locking on expiry ofadjustable preset hold-open

time. With this system, thedoor automatically opens inthe event of a power failure. The door cannot be manuallyoperated.

Only type-approved systemsmay be employed in emer-gency exit and escape routes(e.g. DORMA RZ 12, TL-Gwith TL-S control PCB, TV 100, TV 500).

  • The DORMA IRS 35 infra-redsensor is mounted on thepush side and performs threetasks: In the area closest to the door, it acts as anactivator to open the door. When the door is opened, it prevents it from closingagain – irrespective of thepreset hold-open time –while there are persons orobstructions located in thepassage zone. If a door isstopped by a pull-side sensor,

it ensures that the door isonly released for operationagain once the passage isfree. Where it is necessaryto prevent passers-by fromtriggering an opening pulse(e.g. in doors located in corridor walls), the sensorscan be switched off whenthe door is closed byDORMA ED 200 swing operators featuring theenhanced control system.
