The frequency depends on location, weather conditions, and by how much the pool is used. A good rule of thumb is one to two times per week. Imbalanced water causes eye irritation, cloudy water, and can cause trouble with the pool’s equipment and interior finish. Sodium bicarbonate (soda ash) helps raise pH levels and muriatic acid helps lower pH levels. These are the two most common products used to balance pool water SHOCKING It is occasionally necessary to add high doses of sanitizers such as chlorine. Heavy rains, high tem- peratures and heavy usage are what create the need for shocking. 1 WATER BALANCE 2 POOL CLEANING Keeping the pool water free of debris helps to maintain its cleanliness and provides a more attractive swimming environment. SKIMMING - This is the process of removing debris from the pools surface. VACUUMING - A vacuum removes debris from the pool floor. BRUSHING – This removes debris from the pool wall. EMPTY – You will need to empty the skimmer basket and pump strainer that collect debris from the pool. 3 POOL EQUIPMENT CARTRIDGE FILTER & PUMP BASKET Cleaning out the filter is crucial in maintaining proper functionality of your pool equipment. Start by turning the power off to the pool equipment. Then open the air release valve on the top of the filter, this will release the pressure inside the filter tank by letting air inside. Once the pressure has been released the top of the filter tank can be removed. Remove the locking ring/ tank top by pushing on the locking tab and turning the lock ring counterclockwise and unscrew the top. Take the cartridge out of the tank and hose it off to remove the debris, also remove the lid to clean the pump and pump basket. Once you have removed as much of the debris as possible replace the pump basket, lid, and the cartridge filer tank, making sure that the breather tube comes up through the center of the cartridge. Start the pump and circulate the water inside until it sprays out of the air release value. Close the air valve. The filter is now back in operating mode.
