We have spent a lot of time trying to identify those sins that create the greatest amount of filth. It’s a very long list! But the sin that is emphasized most often in the Bible is the sin of being religious without being righteous. No amount of religious acts of worship will atone for evil intent. We have a “cleaning problem” and we need a “spiritual soap” It is interesting to me that the ears of our modern world have rejected words like sin, judgement and redemption. And instead of looking to God for forgiveness we have continued to believe that we can find what we need to clean ourselves within ourselves. In plain terms, too many of us are spiritually taking a bath without soap — we think we are clean — but we aren’t! Isaiah put it this way — “Come now, let us argue it out: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be like snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.” Now that is spiritual soap! There is no reason why we Christians can’t live clean, think clean, and be clean! As August is here I am reminded that it is almost time for everyone to head back to school School can be scary you are learning new things and becoming familiar with new ideas There will be new students in your class you will have a new teacher and the material will be more challenging than the year before God reminds us in Proverbs to always be increasing in what we learn and ask God for wisdom and more guidance so that we can understand We should always desire to learn and grow in wisdom but above all of our classes and above all of our studies we should desire to

learn who God is first The Bible is the most important book you will ever own Be moldable and ready for God to use you in your schools He is sending you to be the light to those around you I want to encourage you as you begin a new school year Be reminded of 1 Timothy 412 ldquoDonrsquot let anyone look down on you because you are young but set an example for the believers in speech in conduct in love in faith and in purityrdquo

Much love to you all
