SES is in Safe Harbor for Blacks and SWD in CRCT Math Scores

SES did not make AYP in SWD in CRCT Reading/ELA Scores

SES is in Needs Improvement Year One and must offer Public School Choice or Supplemental Education Services

Page 12: Swainsboro Elementary School AYP Report

SES

Trends:– Struggle with SWD– Blacks and Econ. Dis. Performance is marginalImplications:– Leading indicators - % of Blacks and Econ. Dis. that

passed CRCT is below AMO for 09-10 school year– Without intervention, SES will not make AYP for

these subgroups next year

Page 13: Swainsboro Elementary School AYP Report

Plans and Strategies:• Create list of high risk students based on data• Use Tiger Time to offer remediation and

acceleration of high risk students• Teachers will develop plans to reflect

differentiation activities for these students• Online Assessment Benchmarks and Grade

level Benchmarks will be used to create fluid groups during Tiger Time to focus on high need areas

Page 14: Swainsboro Elementary School AYP Report

• Each Teacher will be given their individual 3 year trend data to set goals for 09-10 school year

• School focus will be standards based classroom and class keys

• Based on class keys self assessment, staff will pick 6 class key elements to focus on during 09-10

• Continue standards based classroom training• New lesson plan format will accentuate class keys• Peer observations and walk throughs will be used to

reinforce class keys

Page 15: Swainsboro Elementary School AYP Report

SES Focus – Key Kids

• SWD• EIP• Students who consistently fall into DNM

categories on CRCT

Page 16: Swainsboro Elementary School AYP Report

Interventions

• Writing detailed prescriptive plan for each Key Kid which addresses each content domain

• Provide additional support for Key Kids during Tiger Time – 7:30 to 8:00 in Learning Labs

• ROAR Time ( Roll Out And Read ) 8:05 to 8:20– All facility members will be involved– AR logs kept and signed by students, teachers,

parents– Percentage of reading must be non-fiction

Page 17: Swainsboro Elementary School AYP Report

• Work with Parent Resource Center on providing training for parents on ways to help at home

• Increased use of manipulatives in math• Increased reading and writing across the

curriculum• Develop homework hotline– Link to website– Phone hotline

Page 18: Swainsboro Elementary School AYP Report

• Provide PLCs to focus on research based strategies and interventions to use in classroom– Examining student work– Using Thinking Maps– Developing and Implementing more rubric

assessments

Page 19: Swainsboro Elementary School AYP Report

• Continuously monitor attendance• Enforce truancy protocol

• Evaluation:– Key Kids will be assessed weekly on Fridays using

math probes, DIBELS, reading probes– Reports will be pulled from PLATO, OAS, Study

Island, AR, AM to determine progress made in identified weak areas of focus

– Instruction will be adjusted accordingly
