    Nyeri was starting to heatup. Over 50 Scouts have

    gathered. Of them 13 areChipkizis from the furtherNorth-Eastern province.They are happy to visit the

    Founder's grave. They areled by Mr. Lungi Leysa andMr. Lebwakita Jeremy.

    ExpectationsSamburu Girls fromLorubae: Jully Njeewan andFrancisca Ntudugwa both15, are very expectant. Theyhave been in Scouting for ayear now. They hope to havefun and get certificates.

    Nyeri is lit for the Centenary Celebrations. Nyeri is the place where theScouts Movement Founder, Lord Baden Powell was buried. Scouts Voice

    journalists on July 29, travelled to this historical site and now update youon what is happening there.

    Climbing Mt. Kenya is oneof the most exciting

    event. Mt. Kenya is wheresome of the Scouts will

    reaffirm their Promise. Theflagging off of 15 Scoutsascending Mt. Kenya startedat Baden Powell's grave.

    Twamkumbukuka Babawetuwas sung as theme ofthe song. Prayers were held

    for peace in the world andfor the team.Mr. Peter Kimita, the AreaCommissioner Nyeri, flagged

    the group off with a call forpeace in the world.

    Led by a group ofmotorcyclists, the team firstwent around Nyeri town.The Scout flag and blowing ofthe " Kudu horn" followed.

    The team is led by Ms. LillianMundia, the Assistant AreaCommissioner for TetuDivision.

    Climbing the mountain willtake three days and one dayto descend.

    Nyeri said, "There was nobetter place to celebrate theCentenary than on top of amountain."

    Construction started in 2002and will soon be complete. Itsconstruction was theinitiative of British andKenyan Scouts.

    According to Mr. MartinMuteru Assistant AreaCommissioner Nyeri,the land on which the

    Museum stands wasdonated by Nyeri CityCouncil. Personalcontributions werealso made by differentpeople.

    While in the three-floor museum, you cansee the BadenPowell's grave and Mt.Kenya, among othersites. It will houseprecious Scout items.It will be manned byScouts.
