The data was later mapped out on GIS. I also worked with the Port Authority of Greater Cincinnati and Price Hill Will to create promo-tional materials as well as assist them with finding specific data.

I was tasked with researching and preparing a report on protection measures for Cincinnati’s underground lagering cellars and tunnels. Additionally, I also man-aged some preparations for the Beer Baron Ball fund-raiser, which is one of the organization’s largest annual events.

A. 3D MODELING

PLEASANT STREET REDEVELOPMENTPleasant Street is located within Cincinnati’s Over-The-Rhine, an up and coming neighborhood that has seen a flurry of investment recently. For our studio assignment, we were asked to choose an area within OTR to theoretically redevelop. My group selected Pleasant street, which is a small road that connects the Findlay Indoor Market to Washington Park. After a several site visits and some analysis, we concluded that the street would be suitable for a pedestrian corridor.

Above are 3D renderings created in Trimble Sketchup. They show various improvements made along Pleasant Street including safer pedestrian crossings at key intersections along E. Liberty Street, a community concert space, a pocket park, and a community garden.

C. 3D & PHYSICAL MODELING

I created a basic 3D model of the College Hill Business District using Form Z and Rhino 5. The file was then prepared for laser cutting through the use of AutoCAD. The laser cut pieces were then glued together with hot glue and spraypainted. The completed model is at a 1:100 foot scale.

D. HAND DRAWING

Over several weeks of our traditional studio, we practiced and honed our hand drawing skills. Our first major assignment was to explore how to create texture using pencil, pen, and markers. This ultimately led to a large 24x36 site drawing. Eventually we went back and colored the drawing in using markers, pastels, and colored pencils. Our last few as-signments were full color 24x36 drawings.

E. CREATIVE WORK

Jiro Ono.Owner of the charming Sukiyabashi Jiro, a restaurant located within the Ginza district of Tokyo, this legendary shokunin crafts what many food enthusiasts would consider the best sushi in the world. The proud recipient of three Michelin stars, he has honed his trade into a form of art. Following a strict and rigorous schedule, Jiro has devoted the majority of his life progressing towards the goal of producing the perfect sushi. With a focus on simplicity, precision, and quality Jiro does not merely enjoy his profession, he has fallen in love with it. Despite countless sacrifices and hardships, Jiro continues his work at the ripe age of 85 and plans to carry onfor years to come.

Foreclosure can be a challengingand confusing experience. The information contained within this pamphlet may help you better understand the foreclosure process,help you know what to expect, and could help you save your propertyfrom foreclosure. Information for both homeowners and tenants is included.

REMEMBER:Just because a foreclosure is filed does NOT mean you must leave. You will own the house until theproperty is sold at sheriff’s sale and the sale is confirmed by the court.

NOTICE:If you move before the sheriff’s sale:

Lock and secure the house.Notify the mortgage company.

- Defend the foreclosure in court: To be effective you should have a lawyer.

- Chapter 13 Bankruptcy: With the helpof a bankruptcy attorney, you can obtaina repayment plan, with monthly catch-up payments through the court.

- Repayment Agreement: In some situations, the bank might let you make catch-up payments by adding an installment to your monthly payments.

- Reinstatement: You pay what’s needed to bring the loan current.

- Loan modification: Most lenders are required to offer you an opportunity to modify your loan to get more affordable payments.

What to do when your landlord is in foreclosure:

- Still pay your rent: Your landlord ownsthe property while the foreclosure caseis going on and has the right to collectrent until there is a new owner.

- If your landlord stops repairs or paying utility bills: Call the Cincinnati Housing Inspection office (513-352-3275). Alsocontact the Legal Aid Society ofSouthwest Ohio LLC (513-241-9400).

- Your lease or rental agreement continues: The person or company (usually the bank)that buys the property becomes your newlandlord.

- After the Sheriff’s sale: Hold onto your rent until the new owner gives you payment instructions and then you willowe them.

- Forced move: The new owner has togive you a written notice at least 90 daysor until the end of your lease, whicheveris longer, before terminating your tenancy.

If you cannot afford to keep your home:

- Short sale: The mortgage companyagrees to let you sell the house tosomeone for less than you owe onthe mortgage.

- Agreed In Rem Foreclosure Judgment:You agree to a court judgment. Themortgage company agrees not to goafter you for any amount owed aftersheriff’s sale.

- Deed in Lieu of Foreclosure: Themortgage company agrees to acceptthe deed to your house as “paymentin full.”

- Do nothing: The mortgage companywill get default judgment and sell yourhouse. You will then have to move.

- Housing Choice Voucher: It does not affect the voucher. They are supposed tomake the necessary arrangements with CMHA.

- To Track the Court Case and Dates: Ifyou file a “Notification Form” with theClerks of Courts, you will receive a postcardwhenever the court schedules something.All events in the case appear on the Clerkof Courts website: www.courtclerk.org. Youcan find your case either with your name orthe case number.

- Mortgage Payments: If the mortgage company refuses your payments, save them. If you save these payments, it will be more likely that you can negotiate a settlement with the lender and save yourhome.

- People Who Promise To Save Your Home: You will hear from a lot of companies who make guarantees they cannot back up. You can usually do as well or better with free counseling agencies.

- Remember: Your present landlord has thesame obligations until there is a new owner.

- If You Don’t File an Answer: The mortgage company will ask the court to grant a foreclose judgment. If the judgmentis granted, the court will direct the Hamilton County Sheriff to sell the propertyat a Sheriff’s Auction.

- How Long Before the Move: You will not have to move until after the house has been sold by the sheriff. Even if you donothing about the foreclosure case, thiswould be several months after the bank started the foreclosure process.

- Court Papers: You have 28 days to filean “Answer,” which is a written responseto the foreclosure complaint. In your“Answer” you admit or deny the statementsin the complaint and state your defenses.

- Lawyers: You are allowed to represent yourself in court. However, foreclosure isa complex legal process and you shouldhave a lawyer.

These logos were created for Fairfax County’s EMBARK Richmond Highway study, which was a transit oriented study focused around the Route 1 corridor. The logos above were various early protoype logos. Those to the right respresent the final selections from the core team, with the largest logo being the final iteration of the logo. This particular project was interesting because it was challenging to come up with a design that satisfied every-one. The notable changes in color, design direction, and name were all influenced by the changing circumstances of the study as it got off the ground.

This 11x17 poster was designed for the Hyde Park Community Council, a neighborhood organization in Cincinnati. Specifically, this was to advertise the neighborhood’s annual winter luminaria event. A postcard was later created from the full sized poster to be sent out to residents. Spaces for a personalized message from the Community Council and a QR code were accounted for.
