2015/2016
BE A PROUD SPONSOR OF SUTTON-IN-CRAVEN C.C
Following one of its most successful seasons to date, Sutton-in-Craven Cricket
Club is now looking to engage with new sponsors ahead of the 2015 season.
This document has been developed to give an indication of the varied opportunities we can offer to those wanting to partner with a vibrant
and dynamic Club and to indicate just some of the exciting benefits that a partnership could bring to your business.
BackgroundSutton Cricket Club was formed around 1902 by the Vicar, playing friendly matches. By 1904, under the Rev A R Light, they joined the "SKIPTON JUNIOR CRICKET LEAGUE". The team was known as Sutton Church, and to play for the team the members had to be church-goers.
In 1933 the team, which was now called Sutton Parish, joined the West Bradford League. Team membership had been thrown open to all men in the parish. They re-joined the Craven League in 1940 but after 1941 the team was not in the league owing to the Second World War, with the shortage of players etc.
Sutton Cricket Club, as it was now known, re-joined the Craven League in 1946 and shared the championship with J Nelson's, and in 1947 won the WYNN Cup. During the war the cricket ground was used for friendly matches between local factories, and the Home Guard and ARP Wardens.
Although not winning the WYNN Cup since 1947, the club has won the Keighley Cup a few times - the first team in 1994 and the second team in 1984 and 1997.
Now the club is still going strong with two senior and two junior teams still playing on the same ground after 100 years. In September 2013 the club purchased the freehold of the ground thereby securing its future use as a cricket field.
Work is also currently underway to replace our changing rooms which were built in the 1930s and are the oldest in the league.
Introduction
2012In 2012 Sutton-in-Craven C.C entered the
midweek t20 competition run by Skipton Cricket
Club. This was a new area of cricket for the team
and the club were looking to use the younger
players from the club as a way of playing with
more senior players. Against all odds Sutton-in-
Craven won the competition on the last ball
needing 1 run to win. Sutton were crowned
Champions much to the amazement of other clubs
involved.
2014In 2014 Sutton-in-Craven C.C were crowned Craven & District Division
2 Champions after a superb season, 1st team Captain Craig Thornton
was delighted with the league win and promotion to Division 1.
Everyone at the Club is looking forward to the 2015 season after our
promotion.
Our 2nd Team also had a fantastic season, unfortunately missing our
on Promotion to Division 4 by 1 point. This was mainly down to games
being cancelled due to poor weather conditions. Captain Craig
Sanderson expressed that the players were ‘gutted’ but would surely
bounce back in the 2015 season to gain promotion.

Why your support matters
“Sutton-in-Craven Cricket Club is an important part of the community in and around Sutton. Our sports club is characterised by success on
he pitch, of which there has been plenty to be proud of recently. But of more importance in my opinion, is the role it plays in fostering
important values on and off the field; inclusiveness and diversity, family orientation, the concepts of teamwork and playing hard but fair, and
a genuinely outstanding commitment to investing in youth development. These values have been nurtured over many, many years and I’m
proud to be a part of this. I encourage you to do the same; to become part of this fantastic club”. – Simon Doane –Marketing & Fundraising
“The Club caters for junior cricketers of all abilities and nurtures both social and sporting values in a structured enjoyable programme. We
aim to build on the skill, enjoyment and camaraderie that develop through our children’s cricketing years. In addition to weekly play,
summer holidays bring the excitement of local schools with our Kwik Cricket Festival run by qualified coaches. As a result, we hope to
create a thriving junior section represented by 2 teams in the form of U9’s and U11’s. On Sunday mornings, when youngsters play cricket
and their parents relax and enjoy refreshments at the Club, you get a real sense of fun mixed with great community spirit. There is a sense of
purpose and achievement which is what team sport is all about.” -Stuart Robinson- Club Chairman
