European Business Summit: Europe’s n° 1 dialogue between business leaders and policymakers Dare and Care: sustaining Europe’s ambitions; Financing, Staffing and Greening We are pleased to present you with the programme of the next European Business Summit (EBS). This 7 th edition will take place on 26 and 27 March 2009 in Brussels under the theme: Dare and Care: sustaining Europe’s ambitions; Financing, Staffing and Greening”. In order to sustain its ambitions to be a strong world player - especially in current times of economic crisis - Europe should Dare and Care better. Daring means that Europe needs to become more entrepreneurial. Doing business in the EU must become easier and more rewarding. Europe should take the lead in R&D and (eco)innovation. More growth and jobs should no longer be a slogan, but a practice. Caring implies taking care of the planet and the people. Economic progress should go hand in hand with a greening society and social protection of a better skilled workforce. A strong economy, ecological protection and social dynamism are the pillars of sustainability. They will also be the recipe of Europe’s future success. Therefore, they form the three building blocks of this EBS: Financing, Staffing and Greening. We have, in cooperation with the European Commission and the Czech EU Presidency, developed a varied programme with three plenary sessions and fifteen workshops, built around these three leading themes. Business leaders will discuss with high-level decision- makers, academics and NGOs from around the world on issues like the financial crisis, clean tech innovation, skills, climate change, energy and ageing. The goal is to come up with concrete solutions for a sustainable and ambitious Europe that is really Daring and Caring. Of course, the EBS also offers ample opportunities for networking and business contacts.
