SCRIPTURE REFLECTION

August 8, 2021 -

19th Sunday in Ordinary Time “Get up and eat or the journey will be too much for you!” 1 KINGS 19:7

God knows that committing to a stewardship lifestyle is difficult. However, we were not designed to do it on our own, we need His help. Fortunately, God gave us the greatest gift of all, His son, Jesus. Through the gift of the Eucharist we join our sacrifice with the sacrifice of the Holy Mass and receive the strength and courage to be His joyful disciples.

Gospel: John 6:41-51.

19th Sunday Adults: How has the Bread of Life helped me in a difficult situation? Children: What will I ask Jesus, the Bread of Life, to help me with?

Action Needed to Stop Infanticide

The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act (H.R. 619) has again been introduced in Congress to protect babies from infanticide. But efforts to bring the bill to a vote in the House are being blocked. Your action is needed to urge your Representative to sign a discharge petition that would allow this vote to occur. Some states have passed laws to expand abortion and to repeal laws providing specific protections for babies born alive after surviving an attempted abortion. The Born-Alive Act would provide these specific protections nationwide to help prevent newborns from being killed or left alone to die. We must continue to push Congress to pass the Born-Alive Act, so babies born alive following an abor-tion attempt are treated the same as any other newborn baby. PLEASE ACT TODAY!!! PARISH PRAYER BOOK OF INTENTIONS

In our Parish Prayer Book, we pray for the sick, needy, struggling, suffering, etc. Every intention in our hearts! No intention is too big or too small for prayer! St. Paul reminds us: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard

your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
