Kranti is a human rights N.G.O. that endeavours for the empowerment of girls brought up inred-light areas.

It provides rehabilitation in a healing home located at Kandivali, where 9 revolutionariesreside with 4 staff members of Kranti.

The revolutionaries are mostly teenagers, going to schools or colleges, spending most of

the time away from the home.

The two-bedroom flat with a large hall and a small library bustles withactivities when everybody is home, late in the evening.

Saturday nights are meant for movies that are educative, inspirational.

On sundays, activities like meditation, photography, social justiceworkshops and outdoor visits keep the girls busy.

If we have a look at thecurrent activity pattern of thehouse, there is a presence ofclashing situations, like study, recreation and interactionhappening at the same time.

    LACK OF

    DEDICATEDSPACE

Also, there is lack ofprovision in case of morenumber of books being

available in the future, orwhen the use of currentbooks gets over.

The library for Kranti can be asustainable entity when it responds tosocial, economic and spatialconcerns, such as having organisedspaces, flow of funds for managing itand a healthy interaction with society.
