I have used online website, Google Forms. The website allows us to create and publish surveys for more people to answer. I used this source to have an idea about the audience and their preferences towards movies. I wanted to identify my target audience and if my movie would have a chance in the market.

I published my survey online on social network websites like Facebook and also asked many of my friends. By asking the variety of people , this allowed me to gain feedback from a wider audience.

I have used open and closed questions to gain quantitative research from the replies in my Questionnaires. This showed me facts and statistics from my responses and easier to compile the data.

I conducted my survey before starting my project in March and I asked all kinds of questions about movies. The total number of people conducted the survey was 50. In which 34 were girls and 16 were boys, between the ages of 18 – 26.

Conclusions from the Results

After the survey I found that most females prefer romantic and comedy movies and males prefer action and drama. Due to the conventions set for every genre people have specific expectations from every genre (for eg: spooky sounds, low lighting, ghost/blood/monsters from horror movie)

People are now looking for realistic storylines from which they can relate to and their emotions could connect. People now have broader spectrum and they are open to new creative and imaginative ideas and challenges to convections, giving chance independent and new movie makers a chance as well.

There are a lot of things people consider before watching a movie, especially actor/actress , word of mouth and television adverts of trailer and social networking sites plays most important role in promotion of a movie.
