Surgical Treatment of Kidney and Ureteral Stones at The Urology Center of Colorado

There are a few issues we advise you to consider when determining where to send acute kidney/ureteral stone patients.

The Urology Center of Colorado:

l Patient with known or suspected kidney/ ureteral stone pain.

l Patient can arrive at TUCC between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

m Patients must arrive by 2:00 p.m. if you believe surgery is needed that day.

m For patients whose surgery can wait a day, we can certainly see them late in the afternoon and schedule surgery for the following day.

l For patients requiring same day surgical intervention, they must be NPO for eight hours prior to surgery, so please advise these patients not to eat or drink prior to coming to TUCC.

Emergency Room:

l Patient has a fever. Fever with an obstructing ureteral stone is a life-threatening situation and should always be evaluated/managed in the emergency department.

l Patient who needs same day surgical intervention and who has significant cardiac and/or pulmonary co-morbidities and would not be appropriate for outpatient surgery/ general anesthesia.

A TUCC physician will update you on your patients’ progress throughout their treatment process at our center. Follow up notes will also be sent to your office.

TUCC’s in-house laboratory, imaging and pathology departments ensure an accurate and prompt evaluation for your patients. In addition, USCC is fully accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Healthcare, Inc. Our surgical center is one of only 11 ambulatory surgery centers in Colorado to be accredited in the field of urology.

Please note that at TUCC, we can also treat your non-acute kidney and ureteral stone patients.
