As a DOCSIS1-based1 network, the SurBeam inrastructure was

created with large networks in mind and was designed and archi-

tected to support millions o subscribers. With the Sur Beam

system success in large satellite networks worldwide, you get a

platorm with proven support or many hundreds o thousands

o installed satellite Internet subscribers per network. From

thousands to hundreds-o-thousands o subscribers and more,

you get an economical, easy-to-scale system that can handle

    your network growth.

By using traditional VSA systems or large networks, your opera-

tional costs can contribute signicantly to the total cost o service.

Because the SurBeam system is based on DOCSIS standards, it

includes key eatures that allow you to minimize operational costs

while adding valuable operational eatures. With the SurBeam

integrated operations support system (OSS) and business support

system (BSS), you get highly automated provisioning o subscribersand services, a rich set o network, service, and customer manage-

ment tools architected or large networks, Virtual Network Operator

(VNO) support using a common inrastructure, and optional sup-

port or billing, trouble tickets, and more.

Low capital and operating costs are meaningless without satised

subscribers. Tats why the Sur Beam system incorporates DOCSIS-

based services with innovative technology that enhances the total

user experience. AcceleNet compression technology increases speed

and perormance to optimize web browsing and other web-centric

applications. From Internet access to VoIP and video over IP, the

SurBeam system provides an unparalleled level o perormance or

    high-bandwidth applications.

ViaSat extends ast, ecient, and secure communications to people

at the ar reaches o inormation networks. At the edge is where wir

networks just cant deliver what you need. Our project experience

extends to virtually every satellite broadband system in the world.

And our production experience includes hundreds o thousands o

terminalsclimbing towards 1 millionmaking us ar and away

the leading technology provider or Ka-band. In addition, ViaSat is

working to transorm satellite broadband with ViaSat-1, expected to

be the worlds largest capacity broadband satellite.

In addition to satellites and ground system technology, our technica

sta ocuses on this challenge rom many other angles. Data proces

and acceleration techniques, more ecient antenna technologies, cr

waveorms, adapting open standards, and soware-driven products

give customers the ability to do more with less bandwidth.

When you need to connect people at the edge o the network, ViaSa

networks bring you more eciency and bandwidth capacity so you

can expand your network reach, enable your customers to do more

the network, and create new opportunities or you and your custom

Complementing our technical expertise, our strong business

organization can plan, develop, and execute programs on a scale

that we could not just a ew years ago. We bring you an unmatched

combination o technical and business innovation, award-winning

schedule/quality perormance, and a commitment to the overall

success o these ventures. Tat also enables us to attract the brightes

new talent who want to take on cutting-edge, complex projects.

Te SurBeam system is the standards-based satellite system that l

you oer broadband Internet access to your current markets and

reach new customers beyond. It starts with the proven economics a

scalability o cable modem Internet access and adds the wide, im-

mediate coverage o satellite. Along with your customer base, distr

bution channels, and support organization youll have a platorm o

rapid penetration into the broadband access market. So, you can si

up the best customers, without the cost or delays o building terres

    trial connections to reach them.

Unlike VSA systems that have been modied and home-grown

to handle large, Internet-access networks, the Sur Beam system is

based on Internet-over-cable standards and hardware that have be

designed by the cable industry rom the start or provisioning and

management o large Internet-access networks. In this way, ViaSat

broadband Internet-over-satellite system is unlike any VSA system

    so you get revolutionary advantages.
