What is a Virtual Receiver ?

• Any incoming call can be answered by any line card

• No Hunt Groups

• Virtual function is in the System III Receiver

How to Communicate to a System III Receiver

Telephone Numbers are pointed to a PRI – Primary ISDN Service.

Any Telephone number can be pointed to any available channel.

Page 9: Sur-Gard System III Receiver. Eliminate PSTN phone lines Virtual receiver with ISDN circuit Auto-Switching redundancy AHS service, reduce On-Line time

“D” Channel with ANI – DID/DNIS info

The PRI needs to be terminated and converted back to Analog

Most common product used in N.A. is the Adtran Atlas 550 or Lucent (Avaya) PBX

The System III is up to a 24 line receiver

The PRI is 23 Voice channels

Any incoming call can be answered by any line card.

All line cards know the telephone number the panel is calling to.

All line cards work as one giant “line pool”

“D” channel on the PRI

• Where the panel is calling to DNIS/DID

• Where the panel is calling from ANI

System III ReceiverAnalog Connections

Page 12: Sur-Gard System III Receiver. Eliminate PSTN phone lines Virtual receiver with ISDN circuit Auto-Switching redundancy AHS service, reduce On-Line time

If any call can go to any line cards then all line cards must have the ability to receive any format !

• Over 100 formats

• SIA 1, 2, 3, 8, 20, Contact ID, Pulse, Modem II, IIe, IIIA Squared, ITI, Silent Knight FSK1, FSK2,

Sescoa Super Speed, DMP, Westec and many more!

System III can receive the formats, it is not interactive, ITI, DMP.

How Many Communication FormatsAre There?

Page 13: Sur-Gard System III Receiver. Eliminate PSTN phone lines Virtual receiver with ISDN circuit Auto-Switching redundancy AHS service, reduce On-Line time

ANI: 416-665-4494

416-665-4494 DNIS: 7618

800-418-7618

The “D” channel on the PRI-ISDN provides two features…

1. DNIS/DID. This is the identifier of the telephone number the panel will call to..

2. ANI. This looks the same as Caller ID and is where the panel is calling from..

DNIS. Where the panel is calling too

The Virtual Receiver Concept

Page 14: Sur-Gard System III Receiver. Eliminate PSTN phone lines Virtual receiver with ISDN circuit Auto-Switching redundancy AHS service, reduce On-Line time

Skill Check

• A PRI can only have 23 telephone numbers pointing to it (T / F)

• Does using PRI/T1 eliminate the need for PSTN Lines (T / F)

• All the existing telephone numbers including roll-over numbers need to be pointed to the PRI - ISDN30 (T / F)

• The DNIS number is the originating number (T / F)

Please answer using True (T) or False (F)

DSC is the only security industry manufacturer with an Auto-Switching redundant receiver.

• Traditional Receivers will require “Buy One Receiver – Buy Two”

• Duplication of Receivers !

• Switching accounts from receiver 1 to receiver 2

Sur-Gard System III ReceiverWhat is Auto-Switching UL/ULC Redundancy ?

Page 16: Sur-Gard System III Receiver. Eliminate PSTN phone lines Virtual receiver with ISDN circuit Auto-Switching redundancy AHS service, reduce On-Line time

• Automatic Switching from Primary to “hot” Secondary Hardware

• Dual CPM3 Receivers

• Dual PSU3 Power Supplies

• Virtual Line Cards

• Automatic Back-up output to Automation Software

Sur-Gard System III ReceiverBenefits of Integrated Redundancy

Sur-Gard System III ReceiverBenefits of Integrated Redundancy

•Save Time

•Save Resources

•Save Money

•No need to duplicate Line Cards

Page 18: Sur-Gard System III Receiver. Eliminate PSTN phone lines Virtual receiver with ISDN circuit Auto-Switching redundancy AHS service, reduce On-Line time

Skill Check

• I only need one System III base unit for UL/ULC redundancy (T / F)

• Do I need the System III EXP unit for redundancy (T / F)

• Do I turn off the System III to change a bad component (T / F)

• Is the System III hot swappable? (T / F)

Please answer using True (T) or False (F)

So a Virtual Receiver is..Sur-Gard System III Receiver

Any incoming call can be answered by any line card

What is AHS ?

What is AHS ?

Automatic Handshake Selection

Patented service created by Sur-Gard

The “D” channel on the PRI-ISDN provides ANI…

This looks the same as Caller ID and is where the panel is calling from..

• SIA

• ITI

• Modem IIIA2

The AHS Receiver

Page 23: Sur-Gard System III Receiver. Eliminate PSTN phone lines Virtual receiver with ISDN circuit Auto-Switching redundancy AHS service, reduce On-Line time

Which Handshake does the Control Panel need?

HS #1 = 1 second 2300 Hz

Wait = 4 second

HS #2 = 1 second 1400 Hz

Wait = 4 second

HS #3 = 1 second 2300-1400 Hz

Wait = 4 second

HS #4 = 1 second SIA – “YES”

9 seconds of on-line time before the panel received the handshake it required.

How about Radionics, ITI or Handshake #5-#6

The AHS Receiver

Page 24: Sur-Gard System III Receiver. Eliminate PSTN phone lines Virtual receiver with ISDN circuit Auto-Switching redundancy AHS service, reduce On-Line time

With the patented AHS service there is an average on-line saving of 4 seconds

20,000 accounts with 12 signals per month = 240,000 signals

4 second saving per signal = 240,000 x 4 = 960,000 seconds

960,000 seconds = 16,000 minutes or 266 hours per month

266 hours per month saving off the phone bill !!

The AHS Receiver How do You Save Money $ ?

• Eliminate individual phone lines with one PRI

• Cancel all existing roll-over lines and numbers

• Only keep the telephone numbers in the panels

Page 25: Sur-Gard System III Receiver. Eliminate PSTN phone lines Virtual receiver with ISDN circuit Auto-Switching redundancy AHS service, reduce On-Line time

Station A

Station B

800-762-8934 = 8934

800-543-5176 = 5176

800-876-5009 = 5009

516-221-5411 = 5411

= DNIS or DID numbers

In the case of a disaster the phone numbers can be pointed to another PRI going to another location.

The DNIS/DID identifies where it was calling to..

What Is Disaster Recovery?
