NORTHERN VIETNAM - THE PROMISING MANUFACTURING HUB Ride on Northern Vietnam’s accelerating economy by being a part of MTA Hanoi 2017. Following its successful showings, the 5th edition of MTA Hanoi continues to be the industry tradeshow with the biggest overseas participation (more than 70%). Group Pavilions hail from Korea, Singapore and Taiwan amongst exhibitors from more than 15 countries / regions.
Hanoi reeled in more than US$5.2 billion through exports in the first six months of 2016, according to the municipal Department of Industry and Trade. Garment / textile brought in US$711million. Growth also came in through exports of machinery / equipment / component (US$612 million), followed by means of transport and spare parts (US$396 million). Overall, Hanoi has registered a gain of 7.3% in its gross regional domestic product (GRDP). VOV.VN, 14 July 2016
The northern port city of Haiphong attracted US$1.8 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first half of 2016, 3.5 times higher than the same period last year. Haiphong ranked in the top localities in terms of FDI attraction, with 23 new projects and 17 expanded ones licenced in the period. VOV.VN, 5 July 2016
The newest production facility in Vietnam of LG Electronics was officially opened in the northern city of Hai Phong.
