27 September 2012, COIE hosted a networking event on “Emerging Trends and New Opportunities in Smart Assistive and Healthcare Businesses” with enthusiastic response from 28 companies
numbering 35 Executive level attendees coming together to network, share and update on emerging business opportunities in the smart assistive/rehabilitative and healthcare solutions spaces.

Mr R. Raghunathan, consulting Partner from PWC Singapore shared the rising opportunities in the Assistive & Rehabilitative Technology space, particularly in Asia. He also gave an overview of the government incentive schemes which SMEs and entrepreneurs in the assistive healthcare product space can tap into.

Dr Christina Tiong, Head Medical Affairs in the Office of Clinical Governance at the Tan Tock Seng Hospital shared with the attendees a clinician’s perspective on the healthcare products and services developments. She further shared an overview of her organisation’s innovation facilitation process, in particular the Co-Innovation Programme Office working with SME partners to co-innovate and develop innovative medical products and market-driven technologies.

Mr Gooi Boon Chong, Manager from Nanyang Polytechnic’s Applied Research Group shared on the “The New Old - Identifying Silver Opportunities in Singapore” where he gave us a glimpse of the burgeoning ageing related business opportunities in the country. Technology platforms and products developed by NYP were also presented.

What is enterprise innovation? The Enterprise Forum and Network
held on 22 November 2012 helped to address this question and other pertinent issues about innovation.
Guest speakers from Get2Volume, iAxil Pte Ltd and Vortics Comms Pte Ltd, shared their experiences in leveraging innovation for business growth, market positioning and penetration strategies.
In this Seminar, Exhibition cum COIE Open House event, over 200 participants comprising senior management, directors, industry leaders and entrepreneurs also gained insights into generatuing ideas for market processes and funding, and viewed innovative projects from NYP and partners at an exhibition.
Participants also get to experience the pervasive innovation culture in NYP and explored the multifaceted engineering services and business support offered by the COIE for companies.
T he inaugural TECHINNOVATION 2012 was held at the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore on the 16th October. This was also held
in conjunction with TECHVENTURE 2012 from 17-18th October which had a more international flavor in attendance and exhibitors.
TECHINNOVATION 2012 was organised by Intellectual Property Intermediary (IPI) Singapore and aimed to provide opportunities for technology seekers and providers to meet and match technology needs and solutions.
Over the 3 days event, the COIE booth showcased several IP ingested projects and exhibits. One of COIE partners, 1RWave was invited to conduct live demonstration of our jointly-developed Active RFID Assets Tracking Solution with 3D modelling to enhance visualisation in a monitoring and control in-building application.
This was yet another way in which the COIE added value to its partners by providing them marketing exposure at such public-facing tech events.
