Working Together

Participate in a person’s job search by letting the job coach know a persons skills, abilities and interests.

Understand the importance of work and assist with grooming and personal attire for work and interviews.

Assist in getting the person to work on time.

Working Together - continued

Communicate with the person and the job coach on a regular basis. If something is going on in a person’s life which may affect their performance at work, it is critical to contact the job coach.

Assist the person in understanding work and how it will benefit him or her.

Schedule appointments on days off.

Maintaining Benefits

Resources under $2000 single, $3000 couple

Know if person is on SSI, SSDI or both

People on SSI can earn up to $28,075.00 in FL for 2009

Report earnings to Social Security

Reporting wages to SSA

Pay stubs MUST be reported each month to SSA Report by mail or in person – get proof of delivery

If person is on SSI and SSDI, two separate copies of pay stubs need to be to each program.

Make copies of ALL documents you give SSA Keep name and notes of all people you speak to. Report all changes of address, income, marriage,

living arrangement to resources to SSA immediately.

PROMPTLY open and read all SSA mail – keep all of the paperwork including the envelopes!

Who Reports Wages to SSA?

The Supported Employment coach and the Supported Living coach need to meet and decide who will be responsible.

APD does not determine who reports wages to SSA…we leave that up to each vendor to decide.

Wages MUST be reported monthly.
