ABOUT THE TEAM

In 2013, the UCF Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition Team was born from the 200-member Collegiate Cyber Defense Club at the University of Central Florida (also known as Hack@UCF).

In just two years, the team has won the 2013 and 2014 Southeast Collegiate Cyber Defense Competitions, and the 2014 national title.

Team members practice two evenings and one weekend day per week, in addition to carrying full-time course loads. Practices are performed in a simulated corporate environment that is randomly attacked by current computer viruses, spyware and other malicious hacking methods. As the threats are presented, the team responds as they would in real-world scenarios: by quickly analyzing the attack and developing effective cyber defenses.

Outside of group practice, team members spend considerable time researching cyber defense topics and techniques to prepare their teammates for future practice sessions.

All 2014 national championship team members are eligible to compete in 2015.
