Cricket traveled to the National Championship in Fort Lauderdale, Florida ranked 19th out of the 24 teams that qualified for the tournament. “Being the youngest squad in the entire nation and having no wins at tournaments in the past; we were quite the underdogs” says captain Sahil Patel.

They were grouped alongside the Univ. Texas Arlington (UTA), Auburn Univ., and George Washington. UMass Lowell Cricket took the group stages by storm and won all 3 games, with the match against Auburn coming down to the final ball/pitch.

On playoff day, the team beat George Washington in their morning game, sealing their spot for the afternoon quarter final against the University of Texas Dallas. UMass Lowell fell short in their game against the University of Texas, but in the end they had a strong showing and proved their team strength, determination, and grit.

With this strong performance, the team rose from 19th to 8th in the nation. The tournament ended with Captain Yash Patel being crowned MVP in two of the three group games played and Venkat Reddy receiving the honors for his performance in the Quarter Finals.
