key issues of masts and towers---

Designing masts and towers is not only aboutthe tower itself.

Ramboll Telecom always focus on the total sitecost what good is a cheap tower if the totalsite cost is tripled because of a poorly designedtower?

By focusing on the following items we ensure

that the total site cost is minimized:

    High quality

    Optimised for the actual need

    Low weight

    Simplicity Easy transport

    Easy assembly

    Long durability

    Low maintenance cost

Optimising of Towers and Masts ---

Triangular cross section gives less winddrag than square cross section

Circular profiles gives less wind drag thanflat sided profiles.

Tubes have the best bearing capacity forthe smallest steel area

The buckling capacity of tubes is higherthan for angular profiles with the same

area of the cross section since the radiusof inertia is higher

Tubes are more expensive per kilothan other profiles (as round bars, angles).

Bolted joints in tubes are normallydifficult to design without welding.
