Why Scan Containers?

Having containers available when they are needed, and in good repair, makes everyone’s job easier. The proper tracking of the containers can only be accomplished through an automated system. Although it is a simplified version of the assembly process, the flowchart below shows that the movement of the containers is complex. WAVE reusables is a system to track the specialized containers needed to ship the process parts. You are an important part of the process. When you properly scan the barcodes on the container and transmit the information to WAVE reusables for processing, you make the job easier for you and others involved in the product. This manual has been prepared to help you to perform this function easier.

In ActiveSync, click on the “Explore” button to display the connected device’s contents in a folder. In the Mobile Device Center, under “File Management,” click on the “Browse the contents of your device” button to display the connected device’s contents in a folder.

NOTE: You will receive from Wave Reaction (either through email, a remote download ( found at http://reusablesdeere.wavereaction.com/downloads/downloads ), or other method) a .CAB file of software to be installed on the scanner. This .CAB file is often compressed and saved in a .ZIP formatted file. The .ZIP file must be uncompressed using a decompression utility (such as 7-zip or WinZip) to display the .CAB file. Contact your on-site tech support If you have any questions about unzipping files. With your device window opened in the syncing application, drag the .CAB software files from your computer into a folder on your scanner – For example, the “Application” folder. Remember which folder the file is copied into. After copying the file from the computer to the scanner, the scanner can be undocked. Navigate to the folder on the scanner, and open it. Tap once on the .CAB file to open it. You will be prompted whether or not you wish to install the software. Ensure that the file is being installed to “Device” (the top radio button), and tap the “Install” button in the menu across the bottom of the screen to install the software. After installation is complete, the WAVE reusables icon will appear as an icon on the main menu screen. Tap this icon to boot the RCM application.

Main Screen and Connectivity

The Main Screen has a number of optional functions that may be enabled for your scanner based on your login ID. If you are required to use these optional functions, they will be enabled and available for use. If you are not required to use these options, you will not be able to select them or enter data into them, and they will appear grayed-out.

If the wireless connection is available, one of the icons above will be displayed in the top menu bar on the screen, based on your model of scanner. The wireless connection is checked each time a function is initially selected.

If the wireless network is not available, the Internet is not available, or the main database server is not available, one of the icons above will be displayed in the top menu bar on the screen, based on your model of scanner.

IMPORTANT: To work offline, you must enter “Offline Mode,” selected within the “Options” button accessed after logging in. “Offline Mode” will save the scanned data locally on the scanner, to be uploaded when the scanner is docked. During these scans, information about the container will not be displayed as the database is not available. Once the connection becomes available, uploads will begin automatically. Scans captured while the scanner is online will indicate a successful capture with a green “Submit” button, while scans captured while the scanner is offline will indicate a successful capture with a yellow “Submit” button. Scans that generate an error that results in the data not being captured will display a red “Submit” button. WARNING: All offline transactions are saved in a persistent local storage location to preserve the file if the scanner is cold booted. Anytime there is an offline file on the scanner, we will attempt to upload those transactions. If there is any error trying to upload a transaction to the server, the transaction is not removed from the file, and Wave Reaction will make another attempt at an upload when an internet connection is available.

Rebooting the Honeywell 9900 Scanner Soft Reset (Warm Boot) A soft reset re-boots the device without losing RAM data. Perform a soft reset when:

*The terminal fails to respond. *After installing some software applications. *After making changes to certain system settings, such as network cards.

1. Press and hold the CTRL + SFT keys for approximately five seconds. 2. The decode and scan LEDs flash for approximately three seconds as the terminal resets. 3. When the reset is complete, the WAVE reusables application should be re-opened. Other Troubleshooting 1. I cannot get the scanner to scan. Make sure: *That you are in the “WAVE reusables” Application Software.

*That the bar code is not bad, dirty or damaged. *That you are not too far away from the bar code. *That the red scan beam covers the entire bar code. *That the battery is not low.

2. I have more than one scan listed for the same bar code. There should be only one read per bar code. If a bar code displays more than once, simply highlight the extra read and tap “Delete”. Answer “OK” to the Delete record verification. Repeat for each extra read. 3. RACF ID If operating within the John Deere network, please be prepared to give the User ID to the help desk.

Scanner Troubleshooting - Motorola MC9090-G Rebooting the Mobile Computer If the mobile computer stops responding to input, reset it. There are two reset functions: warm boot and cold boot. A warm boot restarts the mobile computer by closing all running programs. A cold boot also restarts the mobile computer, but erases all stored records and entries in RAM. Data saved in flash memory or a memory card is not lost. In addition it returns formats, preferences and other settings to the factory default settings. Perform a warm boot first. This restarts the mobile computer and saves all stored records and entries. If the mobile computer still does not respond, perform a cold boot. Performing a Warm Boot 1. Hold down the Power button for approximately five seconds. As soon as the mobile computer starts to perform a warm boot release the Power button. A cold boot restarts the mobile computer and erases all user stored records and entries that are not saved in flash memory (Application and Platform folders) or a memory card. Never perform a cold boot unless a warm boot does not solve the problem. CAUTION Do not hold down any key, button or the trigger, other than the Power button during a reset. Performing a cold boot restores formats, preferences and other settings to the default settings. Any data previously synchronized with a computer can be restored during the next ActiveSync operation. Perform a Cold Boot: 1. Press the primary battery release on the mobile computer to partially eject the battery from the mobile computer. 2. While the battery is partially released, simultaneously press and release the trigger and the Power button. 3. Push the battery to fully re-insert it in the mobile computer. One audible click can be heard as the battery is fully inserted. 4. The mobile computer initializes.
