Increasing energy efficiency means using only the power required (reducingconsumption), using energy when it costs less (optimise consumption in tariff time slots,increase renewable energy consumption and so on) and improving energy quality(reduction of harmonics, power surges, ...).Therefore, the first step to take is the monitoring and analysis of your power consumption.How much energy do you consume? When and how do you consume it? What is thestate of your machinery and equipment? Are you promptly informed about malfunctions? Synergy is a supervision and energy management web-based software that providesfor the monitoring and control of the electrical installation, in a simple and efficient way. In addition to electrical quantities, it allows to check all environmental and processinformation (operating status, alarms, etc.), acquired from LOVATO Electric products,equipped with communication port, and thereby to carry out commands andparameterising.

Synergy structure and applications are based on MS (Micrcsoft) SQL RelationalDatabase management system (RDBMS). Synergy consulting (Client) is made through popular programs for Internetbrowsing that are available across different platforms and operating systems. These features allow Synergy to be a highly versatile system, simultaneouslyaccessible to a large number of users/workstations, via intranets, VPN or Internet.

Synergy allows access to a large number of users with different access levels andauthorisations.

• Users: Viewing of a limited number of devices, predefined by theadministrator, and the relative pages.

Three access levels are available:• Administrator: Complete access to

all functions • Power users: Viewing of a limited

number of field devices, predefinedby the administrator, with possiblecreating or changing of graphicpages, datalog reports and relativeexport and change of device setup.

Synergy allows to interface LOVATOElectric devices only. It simultaneouslymanages different communicationchannels with independent configurationfor protocol, speed rate, etc. Channelsare to be intended as one for eachdifferent TCP/IP address and everyother communication port RS232,RS485, etc. In addition to wiredconnections of devices through wirednetworks (RS232, RS485 and

Ethernet), Synergy also permits themanagement of analog and GSM/GPRSmodems.Available communication protocols areModbus-RTU, Modbus-ASCII andModbus-TCP/IP.LOVATO Electric devices, directlyconnected to an Ethernet network, can be predisposed to also handledynamic TCP/IP addresses.





Communicationnetworks/channels

Each device can also be identified bya customised description of theelectrical utility/application to which itmakes reference to. Using the specific control menu, it is possible to verify if it is correctlycommunicating and when the lastmeasurement was done.Synergy can query about exclusivedata required by datalog files on a

regular basis to optimise network datatraffic as well as for other eventualinformation contained in the graphicpage viewed in that moment. With Synergy, internal deviceparameters can be possibly changedor saved on hard disk and retrievedlater on for quick configurationduplication in other devices.

Synergy allows to create an unlimitednumber of pages, to include staticimages and dynamic indicators ofvarious types and easily configurethem. Therefore, the user can create pageswith installation overall view, synopticand/or topographic representations ofthe electrical network and pages of the

single electrical lines and/or applicationswith all detailed information.By using pushbuttons, commands canbe sent to the installations, if obviouslyforeseen in the field devices. Page configuration permits to alsointeractively browse among thesesame pages.

The dynamic objects available are: • Analog instruments at 90° and 270°• Digital instrumentation • Digital instrumentation with vertical or

horizontal bar graphs • 10-digit hour counter • Simple label or with dynamic image • Multi-measurement panel • Chart of single measurements • Harmonic status bar graph.

Synergy allows to record data read onfield devices in different datalog files(unlimited number), each with freelyuser-customisable configuration.Therefore, it is possible to gather differentinformation per time sampling (e.g.electric power or gas consumptioncounts every hour; average activepower and current values every 15minutes and active power and currentvalues every 10 seconds, ...), per eachsingle electric line or grouped togetherper department or production bay. Therecorded measurements by devicescan be used as parameters formathematical functions to permitadditional calculations or informationelaborations not readily or not evenavailable of the installation, for instance

the sum of consumption for a certainarea so the cost of electricity can becalculated. Automatic export withcustomisable rate (daily, weekly ormonthly) and standard Excel or textformat can be defined for each file.The generated files are saved on harddisk and sent by email / FTP whereverrequired. In the case of data networks withpotential reliability problems, separatedata storage modules are availablefor data logging, to fit exclusively ondevices that are expandable with theEXM1030 or EXP1030 unit. Synergywill provide for automatic recovery ofstored data when network connectionis restored.

Data recorded in datalog files can also be viewed in charts.
