IntroductionSuperior Roofing is an established and reputable roofing company.

Felt roofing has been the backbone of the company since its formation some 12 years ago, from the beginning carrying out small projects and onto larger framework and commercial contracts. Superior Roofing install a full range of APP and SBS built up roofing systems. These tried and tested built up bitumen felt roofs are thin enough to suit those decks not designed to beara great deal of weight.

Our roofs are widely used in the refurbishment sector when overlaying the existing waterproofing, while still delivering the highest level of waterproofing protection possible.

We are approved installers of Langley, Pluvitec, Iko, Soprema and Bauder to name a few. We are considered by our suppliers as platinum installers of their systems.

Superior Roofing is accredited for many major felting systems:

Langley, Bauder, IKO, Soprema and Pluvitec to mention but a few.

Whilst carrying out the installation of the felt roofing it is possible to thermally upgrade the roof. A warm roofing specification is widely used as the insulation is laid beneath the primary waterproofing.

The thickness of the insulation is determined by the U value calculations in accordance with current building regulations. Falls can be added to a roof using a cut to fall insulation scheme which can reduce or eliminate standing water.

We are working with the London Borough of Southwark & Harlow Council via principle contractors on large frameworks. We have also installed Completed Roofing works to over 18 schools within the Harrow area alone.

In addition and throughout the school summer shutdown we act as principle contractor working directly for schools. We ensure that we start and finish the contract ready for the pupils and staff to return without any disruption.

In 2014 we laid approximately 9000/m2 of felt roofing in the six weeks school shutdown.

To maintain our standards we only use trained and approved felt fixers. This ensures our works are carried out in accordance with our BS EN ISO 9001:12008 and 14001:2004 procedures. Our work is also monitored independentlyby our suppliers to ensure our installations are to the highest standards possible. Our work is also monitored independently by our suppliers to ensure our installations are to the highest standards possible.

In our opinion we use the best, approved felt fixers in the country. Some of our past contracts include the Royal Festival Hall and the high profile Parabola project.

Superior Roofing have been installing cold applied liquid coatings for over four years in the refurbishment sector. Liquid coatings provide an excellent alternative where it is not practical to relay the existing hot applied waterproofing.

Liquid waterproofing systems

Works are carried out in accordance with our BS EN ISO 9001:2008 and 14001:2004 procedures and monitored independently by our suppliers to ensure our installation are to the highest standards possible.

Liquid coatings can be applied directly over existing waterproofing providing seamless waterproofing which can tackle intricate detailing whilst providing hard wearing substrate. Please note that repairs to the existing substrate may be necessary prior to application.

We have teams of approved installers who can apply

systems such as, IKO, Kemper, Langley, Triflex and Bauder.

• Air cured coating are used on roofs and balconies where there is no need to maintain access as curing times of the material can be up to 48 hours.

• Fast curing systems has the benefit of rapid curing and enhanced efficiencies on site. FCS has been developed to provide fast curing solution for roofs, balconies and walkway applications where access and egress is to be maintained.

• Fast Cure Systems (FCS) use a catalyst speeding up the curing process between 20-30 minutes which allows the surface to be trafficked minimising disruption throughout the installation.

Superior Roofing was the first contractor in the UK to use the IKO balcony and walkway system (BWS) fast cure system (FCS). In 2014 we applied over 3000/m2 on various housing estates in London Borough of Southwark alone.

Other liquid coatings include Royal Borough of Kensington we have applied nearly 1000/m2 on private balconies and Oasis Academy in the London Borough of Westminster applied 1200/m2.

Hot melt structural waterproofing systems is an advanced monolithic membrane that blends both synthetic and natural rubber in a special selected bitumen and had been used within the construction industry for nearly forty five years and delivers an outstanding level of adhesion, strength and flexibility.

Hot melt is a fully bonded application that adheres seamlessly to the roof with no possibility of water tracking beneath the membrane, hot melt can be applied to flat roofing, podium deck and tanking projects.

Hot meltHot Melt has been used for roof waterproofing for nearly 30 years. The system is directly applied to the primed substrate and is approximately 7-9mm thick.

Superior Roofing are approved contractors and have teams of installers and can apply IKO PermaTEC, Radmat, PermaQuick and Bauder Bakor to name a few.

In accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations and guarantees the installation once completed is independently electronically tested to ensure the integrity of the system prior to the roof finishes being up it thus ensuring the system will not fail. Hot melt will last the lifetime of the building once suitably covered with roof finishes.

Roof finishes can be simply insulated with a paving slab or ballast finish or more often these days architects specify intensive or extensive green or bio diverse roofing providing environmental and economic benefits.

As with all our installation works are carried out in accordance with our BS EN ISO 9001:2008 and 14001:2004 procedures and monitored independently by our suppliers to ensure our installation are highest possible standards.

external wall insulationEWI In order to offer its clients a total

envelope solution, Superior Roofing can now offer a range of external wall insulation and cladding solutions.

Retrofit is the process of upgrading aged properties to improve their thermal performance and generally reduce energy requirements. One of the most effective measures is to clad the property with EWI.

Superior Roofing is a PAS 2030 accredited company. We can offer a range of different system supplier solutions to meet the individual needs of properties and clients, with each project being individually assessed and the most suitable and cost effective solution selected.

These solutions attract a 25 year guarantee and are administered through a third party provider under PAS 2030 guidelines and approved by the Department of Energy and Climate Change.

In addition to its EWI installation, Superior Roofing can also undertake all associated, enabling and building works providing our clients with a “one stop shop”, easing the sequencing and co-ordination processes.

Retrofit

New Build

EWI can equally be installed on new build properties and is often built in conjunction with other cladding solutions to Architect design requirement.

Superior Roofing are able to provide designed through-wall solutions, incorporating EWI and most types of rain-screen cladding including Terracotta, High Pressure Laminate (HPL’s), timber cladding and composite panels.

Typically, a full EWI solution to either an individual property or an apartment block will significantly reduce energy loss. In some cases savings of 35% can be made on heating costs. Pre-existing damp and mould issues can also be dramatically reduced and in most instances totally eliminated.

An EWI solution will not only improve the thermal performance, but also the general appearance of the property can be greatly enhanced, providing clean lines in an extensive range of colours in a finish that is easily maintained and largely self-cleaning. Brick slips and brick-render may also be utilised to maintain existing features or to satisfy planning constraints. The value of the property, post installation, is often significantly higher than before the works were undertaken.

Having spent 30 years building its experience in the roofing and building trade, Superior Roofing decided to branch out into Solar Panelling with the support of its corporate clients as well as existing residential customers.

To meet demand, The Superior Environmental Division was born; dedicated to installing and maintaining solar panel installations connected to the Grid.

Superior Environmental’s installation teams are fully trained and qualified in all the current standards to ensure total quality anda premium service.

Solar Power is one of the most well established and reliable renewable energy technologies. Solar Photovoltaic (PV) panels have no moving parts and therefore require littlemaintenance other than an occasional clean with pure water.

The measures put in place by the Government to encourage investment in renewables has led to an increase in demand and popularity for solar photovoltaic in particular.

By installing solar PV to provide electricity for a home or building, you can reduce energy bills and your carbon footprint. The government Feed in Tariffs scheme also provides up to an additional two sources of income, a generation and an export tariff.

We design your solar system to maximise your return on investment whilst taking into account potential yield reducing factors, including shading to the roof and cable losses. We closely follow the guidelines set within the micro-generation Certification Scheme. When selecting products to recommend to our clients we select manufacturers of the highest quality.

Our solar system designers take actual performance results achieved, gathered by monitoring previous installations, into careful consideration. We continue to recommend our choice of modules and inverters basedon real life performance and manufacturing build.

Solar photovoltaicSuperior Environmental Division is a company dedicated to the implementation of solar panels for commercial and domestic use.

The UK government is legally committed to a target of 15% of electricity to come from renewable sources by 2020.

As an ISO 14001 accredited company we have the necessary procedures in place toeffectively manage our carbon footprint reduction. As part of our measures we identify all areas where environmental protection measures may be utilised.

1. Carbon management and the sourcing of environmentally friendly materials wherever possible.

2. Strict monitoring when ordering materials for site works to reduce deliveries and over-ordering, which in turn reduces waste of our materials used on site.

3. Recycling of waste materials by site waste segregation; sorting waste by type such as metals, cardboard, wood, plastics and non-recyclable waste. Implementing these procedures dramatically reduces the need for the use of landfill facilities and in some cases monetary value can be gained by careful waste management and the recycling of materials which can be re-used.

SustainabilitySustainable roofing is a product range designed to compliment the eco-system and protect the environment.

SRBS actively promotes protection of the environment in all its business activities wherever possible. We endeavour to reduce our carbon footprint by close monitoring of waste reduction, the recycling of waste products and paperless control systems.

There can be financial advantages to specifying and installing a green roof. Once completed it requires very little maintenance apart from care for plants and foliage and offer long term performance. The plants and topsoil effectively give the waterproofing membrane a further level of protection, considerably promoting longevity.

Green roof represents an important step forward in the creation of more environmentally responsible buildings, as its ability to absorb carbon dioxide can help reduce global warming. In an urban environment it will soak up excess rainwater to prevent possible flash flooding, as well as offer a high degree of aesthetic appeal

and amenity value for those using the building. Construction techniques for brown and biodiversity roofs are typically similar to those used to create flat roofs, the main difference being the choice of growing medium which is usually locally sourced rubble, gravel or soil, which can often be mixed with other lightweight substrates to meet the specific biodiversity objective.

Whilst a relatively new venture for Superior Roofing, we have already installed green roofing to various small prestigious projects such as Charles Townsend House, Finsbury Estate Islington, Kings Square Garden Bow and Speden Close Camden.

The Intensive GardenThis will include plantings of small and medium shrubs, grassed areas and occasionally trees. It may cover whole areas at the same level, be stepped or form islands.

Layouts and applications can be as creative and adaptable as that of any ground level enclosure. Because plants make more substantial demands on the layers and require watering and feeding this type of cultivation will only last with regular care.

Extensive Roof GardensThese are areas of vegetation more akin to those found in nature and which are largely able to look after themselves. Extensive gardens require plants that’s are suitable to extreme conditions and have a high capacity for regeneration.

These mainly self-contained areas are made up from mosses, succulents, herbs and grasses. Because they require less intervention, the costs of establishing an extensive roof garden is less than that of an intensive one.

Biodiversity RoofsThis specific type of green, brown or living roof typically either tries to replicate as closely as is practical the ecological environment of the site where construction has taken place or sets out to create a natural habitat to support a variety of plants, birds, animals & invertebrates.

Green roofsGreen roofing can be installed over many different types of waterproofing but is more commonly used in inverted structural projects.

SRBS ensures that any materials which cannot be recycled are disposed of in a responsible manner to an appropriate waste facility.
